Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said Mattison (shoulder) will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
According to Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, O'Connell thinks Mattison will be able to suit up Sunday, but official confirmation on the running back's status won't come one way or the other until the Vikings release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 1 p.m. ET kickoff. If available, Mattison should handle his usual complementary role behind Dalvin Cook, though Mattison could see at least a slight drop from the season-high 46 percent snap share and 12 touches he took on during last week's win over the Bears.

Mattison (shoulder) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison maintained his activity level from Wednesday's session, giving him just one more opportunity to get back to full this week. Even if he enters the weekend with a game-day designation, there's been no indication that he's in danger of sitting out Sunday at Miami. Assuming he's available, Mattison would be poised for modest work behind starting running back Dalvin Cook, which has amounted to 7.4 touches for 30.4 yards from scrimmage per game and two total TDs across five contests this season.

Mattison was a limited participant in practice Wednesday due to a shoulder injury.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison played a season-high 43 percent of snaps on offense in a Week 5 win over Chicago, though his 12 touches netted only 41 yards. Meanwhile, Dalvin Cook took 20 touches for 121 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Mattison has seen a bit more work than in past seasons ever since Cook dislocated his problematic shoulder, but the starter hasn't missed a game yet, and it's now the backup who is bothered by a shoulder injury. In any case, Mattison's practice participation Wednesday -- even in a limited capacity -- suggests he's more likely than not to play this Sunday in Miami.

Mattison had nine carries for 19 yards and three receptions for 21 yards on four targets in Sunday's win over Chicago.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison played on a season-high 46 percent of the offensive snaps (34 of 79) and got a decent workload even with Dalvin Cook having a strong game (18 carries for 94 yards and two touchdowns). However, it's hard to count on a workload even this large for Mattison unless Cook gets hurt.

Mattison had three carries for three yards and one reception for a 15-yard touchdown on his lone target in Sunday's win over New Orleans in London.
EDGE Analysis
With Dalvin Cook able to play despite a shoulder injury, Mattison returned to his reserve role and played about the usual number of snaps. Cook's chronic dislocated shoulder issue didn't appear to have any setback, so Mattison again should have a reserve role Week 5 against the Bears.

Mattison carried the ball seven times for 28 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-24 win over the Lions. He added one reception for 16 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison settled into his typical change-of-pace role and had only four carries through three quarters. However, he served as the Vikings' lead back in the final quarter of the game after Dalvin Cook exited with a shoulder injury. Though Mattison didn't get a ton of volume, he made a large impact with a 16-yard reception and trip to the end zone from six yards away. Cook was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder after the game, so there is a chance that Mattison will get lead-back duties in a Week 4 matchup at New Orleans.

Mattison had two carries for eight yards and three receptions for six yards in Monday's loss at Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison played on 19 of the offense's 61 snaps and wasn't involved much, which isn't surprising given the Vikings were facing a large deficit most of the game. It looks like Mattison will have the same role as prior years with a large workload if Dalvin Cook gets hurt, but a modest one if the latter is healthy.

Mattison had eight carries for 36 yards but no receptions in Sunday's win over Green Bay.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison played on 14 of the offense's 62 snaps, essentially giving starter Dalvin Cook rest on two series. Even with new head coach Kevin O'Connell, the workload split between Cook (48 snaps) and Mattison (14) remained about the same as last season. It looks like Mattison will have the same role as prior years with a large role if Cook is hurt, but a modest one if the latter is healthy.

Mattison (personal) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Packers.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison was absent from practice Thursday due to a personal matter, but coach Kevin O'Connell told Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Friday that the Vikings expect the running back to be available for Week 1 action. With Dalvin Cook taking up the vast majority of RB reps for the team, Mattison can't expect more than a handful of touches in the season opener, barring an injury to the former.

Mattison didn't practice Thursday due to personal reasons.
EDGE Analysis
There's been no indication Mattison is in danger of not suiting up Sunday against the Packers, but Friday's practice report could be telling in that regard. Assuming he plays this weekend, he'll serve as the Vikings' primary backup to starting running back Dalvin Cook, which typically only equates to a handful of touches as long as the team's workhorse is healthy.
