Free agent Mike James is expected to join the Bulls for training camp. The 12-year veteran played for Chicago during the 2011-12 season, when he averaged 4.8 points in 11 appearances. If he does make the regular season roster, he'll serve as emergency depth at PG.

Unrestricted free agent Mike James' talks with the Mavericks have been ongoing, according to RealGM.com. "The expectation is he will sign, he deserves it and so we will see how it shakes out," James' agent, Bernie Lee said. "Mike simply wants an opportunity like everyone else to prove his worth." James has been around the block with 11 different NBA franchises and the 38-year-old guard is on his last legs as a pro. The Mavericks added tons of depth at guard this offseason, so it doesn't really add up that they would want have additional depth. While James' record of 16-7 as a starter last season with the Mavs is impressive, it'll be tough for Dallas to make room for him.

Veteran guard Mike James doesn't intend to retire this summer. James is 38 years old and hasn't shot better than 40.8 percent from the field in any season since 2006-07. He's already turned D-League stints into contracts with the Bulls and Mavericks in the past two years, though, so we can't rule out the possibility that he'll earn a new deal.

James has been a better own than Darren Collison (10 points and eight assists in 29 minutes), but this timeshare is one to avoid in standard leagues.

James has been instrumental in Dallas' march toward a playoff berth, and they are now tied with the Jazz, sitting one game behind the Lakers for the final playoff spot in the West. James has also become a useful fantasy player and the Mavericks play on Thursday and Saturday, meaning you'll be able to use him in a daily league if you need bodies for those lighter NBA days.

The Mavericks won their second straight game behind 19 points and five assists from Mike James, who knocked down 7-of-10 shots with three 3-pointers in 32 minutes. The win pulled Dallas even with Utah at 34-36, though both teams still trail the eighth-place Lakers by 1.5 games. Rick Carlisle has an affinity for James' veteran leadership and there are no indications that Darren Collison (13 points, five assists) will retake the starting PG job this season.

Mike James had 12 points, seven assists and four 3-pointers in Wednesday's loss to the Nets. Darren Collison didn't have it cooking tonight like he did on Tuesday, so James bounced back. As long as he's the starting point guard for the Mavs, he's worth keeping an eye on in fantasy. But there is no avoiding a timeshare with Collison here.

Mike James scored a season-high 14 points with two 3-pointers, three rebounds and four assists on Sunday, despite a tough matchup against Russell Westbrook. The 37-year-old journeyman finds himself at the helm of a Mavericks team which remains three games out of the playoffs. His role became even more solid when Roddy Beaubois left tonight's game with a fractured finger, and he's worth a look if you could use a handful of 3-pointers and assists.

Mike James played 35 minutes against the Spurs on Thursday, scoring 10 points with five assists, one steal and two 3-pointers. He's coming off a season-high 31 minutes on Tuesday and he broke it tonight. James and the Mavericks have been very efficient on offense in their previous two games, but since it came against the favorable matchups of Houston and Milwaukee, the stats are skewed a bit. That said, it was the first loss for Dallas with Mike James starting and he's picking up some steam as an asset for PG-needy owners.

Mike James played a season-high 31 minutes against the Bucks on Tuesday, scoring 13 points with six boards, seven assists and one 3-pointer. He also had season highs in points, boards and assists in what was by far his best game. Darren Collison did miss some time with an eye injury, so that helps explain James' bigger allotment. He's only in a timeshare split with Collison, so he's not quite worth a look in standard leagues just yet. Although, the Mavericks have won every game in which James started.
