James will start at point guard for Monday's matchup with the Kings, Craig Grialou of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Usual starting point guard Eric Bledsoe was sent home from shootaround Monday morning after tweeting that he no longer wanted to be in Phoenix, and he's expected to be traded over the next few days. While a trade is in the works, James will benefit in the meantime and should see an expanded role with the top unit. He'll likely have to split the extra minutes with Tyler Ulis, however, so the distribution of minutes will be something to monitor moving forward.

James tallied 19 points (5-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 7-7 FT), two rebounds and one assist across 26 minutes in Wednesday's 113-104 preseason loss to the Trail Blazers.

EDGE Analysis

James has been impressive over his three exhibitions, tallying double-digit scoring in each and going 3-for-6 from the behind the arc over the last two. The 27-year-old enjoyed a relatively successful run in Greece over the last five years, but he's a likely long shot to open the regular season on the Suns' main roster.

James' contract with the Suns is a two-way deal, Sam Amico of AmicoHoops.net reports.

James will spend the majority of 2017-18 in the G-League, though may spend up to 45 days at the NBA level. He's spent the past five years in Europe, most recently averaging 13.1 points and 3.0 assists with Panathinaikos of the Greek Basketball League.

Veteran PG Mike James was waived by the Bulls on Tuesday. Chicago signed James back in April as insurance for their backcourt but he only averaged 7.0 minutes in 11 appearances. There's a good chance that the 39-year-old's playing days are over.

Mike James will available when the Bulls take on the Bucks Tuesday night. Whether James will be the backup point guard to Kirk Hinrich is still to be determined, however, as coach Tom Thibodeau was mum on that topic. Whether Marquis Teague or James backup Hinrich, neither one is producing at a level that warrants any fantasy consider at the moment.

Mike James is dealing with a knee injury. The Bulls were going to make him the primary backup to Kirk Hinrich by sending Marquis Teague to the D-League, but that will be on hold. James hasn't been very good this year and he's off the radar in just about any league.
