Smart (quad/hand) will be available Friday against the Pistons, Jay King of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart had been dealing with a laceration on his hand before the All-Star break, but he was held out of Thursday's practice with a bruised quad. The second ailment was never considered to be serious and, as expected, the Oklahoma State product will be an option off the bench for coach Brad Stevens for the first time since Jan. 23.

Smart suffered a left quad contusion and did not practice Thursday but is expected to play in Friday's game against the Pistons.
EDGE Analysis
Smart was cleared to go through practice after missing nearly a month with a hand injury, but after suffering a quad bruise during that sessions, he was back on the injury report. It doesn't look like it was anything serious, however, and Smart should be a full go for Friday's contest.

Smart (hand) will practice with the Celtics on Wednesday and has been cleared to make his return to game action Friday against the Pistons, A. Sherrod Blakely of NBC Sports Boston reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart has hasn't played in nearly a calendar month after suffering what was apparently a pretty severe laceration to his hand in late-January, but he'll rejoin the team Wednesday and should be available in his usual role off the bench Friday night. Smart had been averaging just under 28 minutes per game prior to the injury, and his return will likely cut into the respective workloads of Terry Rozier and Semi Ojeleye.

Smart (hand) has progressed to shooting with tape on his hand during practices, Scott Souza of The Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart remains out through the All-Star break, though this is certainly an encouraging sign for his recovery. While he remains sidelined, Terry Rozier and Semi Ojeleye should continue seeing an uptick in workload, with Rozier being the main beneficiary.

Smart (hand) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Cavaliers and Wednesday's game against the Clippers, Jay King of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart has been sidelined for the past two weeks with his hand laceration. Though he wasn't expected to play this week the team was holding out hope that he'd make a return before the All-Star Break. Coach Brad Stevens said the hope was for Smart to return after the break, but wouldn't go so far as to guarantee when Smart would return. Look for Terry Rozier and Semi Ojeleye to continue to see an increase in minutes while Smart is sidelined.

Smart (hand) will be re-evaluated Friday night but is expected to remain out until after the All-Star Break.
EDGE Analysis
Smart is still recovering from a laceration in his right hand, which he suffered almost two weeks ago. With only three games left until the All-Star break, the consensus remains that Smart will be sidelined until after the festivities, which leaves Terry Rozier and Semi Ojeleye to remain as the main backcourt contributors off the bench for the next week.

Smart said Sunday that he required 20 stitches to seal his lacerated right hand, which he injured a little over a week ago after swiping at a picture frame on a hotel wall, Scott Souza of The Providence Journal reports. He expects to return to the court after the All-Star break.
EDGE Analysis
Smart, who has already missed the Celtics' past six games -- including Sunday's contest against the Trail Blazers -- was initially expected to miss only two weeks after the injury was announced. However, after meeting with reporters Sunday for the first time since the hotel incident, Smart acknowledged that his hand injury was more severe than the team had let on, so he'll require more time to heal up and is tentatively targeting the Celtics' Feb. 23 tilt with the Pistons for his return to action. Smart's absence has come at an especially inconvenient time with starting point guard Kyrie Irving (quadriceps) missing the last three games and backcourt reserve Shane Larkin (knee) also ruled out through the All-Star break, resulting in Terry Rozier and rookie Semi Ojeleye assuming major minutes at guard.

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said that Smart (hand), who has already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Trail Blazers, won't join the team for its trip to Toronto ahead of Tuesday's tilt with the Raptors, A. Sherrod Blakely of NBC Sports Boston reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Toronto game is the first of a two-game road trip for the Celtics, so it seems unlikely that Smart will meet up with the team for its subsequent contest Thursday in Washington. Smart, who has missed the Celtics' previous five games with a right hand laceration, looks like he could be at risk of being sidelined through the All-Star break, as Stevens said two days earlier that the fourth-year guard is about 10 days to two weeks away from playing again.

Coach Brad Stevens said Friday that Smart (hand) will likely be out another 10-to-14 days.
EDGE Analysis
After originally being given a timetable of two weeks, it looks like Smart may be a bit behind schedule in his return from the hand laceration. It looks like the soonest Smart will return will be Feb. 11 against the Cavaliers, but in his extended absence, look for Terry Rozier to continue to see a bump in minutes, especially with Kyrie Irving currently nursing a quad injury of his own.

Smart (hand) will be sidelined for two weeks, Brian Robb of BostonSportsJournal.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart tweeted an apology and explanation for his absence, which is the result of him "swiping at" a picture frame on a hotel wall and hitting it, causing glass to cut his hand open. While he's sidelined, Terry Rozier will likely be the main beneficiary and could play a sixth-man role off the pine. Jaylen Brown and Semi Ojeleye could see some extra run as well.
