Smart is available to return to Thursday's game against the 76ers after getting his right ankle re-taped.
EDGE Analysis
The injury is apparently minor, as a simple re-taping of his ankle was needed. It's possible he's limited in the coming days of practice, though that bridge will get crossed when it's gotten to.

Smart was seen heading to the locker room during the third quarter of Thursday's game against the Celtics with what appears to be a leg injury, Chris Forsberg of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He was limping, so it's likely either a foot or ankle injury. More word on his status should arrive at some point during the game or afterward.

Smart provided 23 points (8-13 FG, 6-9 3Pt, 1-4 FT), six assists, and three rebounds in 32 minutes during Monday's 118-108 loss to the Pistons.
EDGE Analysis
Smart moved back to a reserve role with Jaylen Brown (personal) making his return to the lineup. However, Smart still managed to post season highs in scoring and made threes while seeing 30-plus minutes for the 12th time in 20 appearances. The defensive stalwart of the Celtics' backcourt continues to earn plenty of minutes. While his inconsistencies on offense, particularly as a scorer, are undeniable, Smart is contributing in every category.

Smart will return to a bench role for Monday's game against the Pistons, A. Sherrod Blakely of NBC Sports Boston reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart picked up the start at shooting guard on Saturday in place of Jaylen Brown (personal), posting an efficient 15 points (7-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt), six rebounds, five assists and two steals across 35 minutes. However, Brown has since rejoined the team and will take back his spot in the top unit, pushing Smart to his typical bench role. Despite the demotion, Smart shouldn't see a drastic decrease in his playing time considering he's averaging 30.7 minutes per game.

Smart will start Saturday's game against the Pacers, MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With both Marcus Morris and Jaylen Brown out of action Saturday, Smart will move into the lineup at shooting guard, while Daniel Theis will start in place of Morris. Smart has struggled on a historic level as a shooter this season, hitting just 26.5 percent of his 10.1 field goal attempts per game, including 24.4 percent from three.

Smart posted an ugly line of one point (0-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block across 31 minutes in Thursday's 92-88 win over the Warriors.
EDGE Analysis
Despite not making a shot from the field, Smart was still a key cog in Boston's big comeback win. His aggressive rebounding and tight defense helped spark a 19-0 run in the third quarter and resulted in +15 plus-minus rating for the game. Smart's contributions are more valuable in real basketball versus fantasy, as his poor shooting (27 percent for the season) will always be a drain on your squad's field goal percentage. Smart and Boston hope to extend their 14-game winning streak Saturday in Atlanta.

Smart will return to the bench for Tuesday's matchup with the Nets, A. Sherrod Blakely of NBC Sports Boston reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart picked up the start on Saturday in place of the ailing Kyrie Irving (face), tallying 14 points, five rebounds, nine assists and two steals across 32 minutes. However, Irving's been fitted for a mask and will return to his usual spot in the starting lineup Tuesday, forcing Smart back to the bench. All that being said, Smart's demotion to the bench shouldn't have an impact on his playing time, considering he was already averaging 30.1 minutes off the bench prior to Saturday's contest.

Smart recorded 14 points (3-10 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 6-6 FT), nine assists, five rebounds and two steals across 32 minutes during a 95-94 win over the Raptors on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Smart received the start with Kyrie Irving (face) sidelined and was quite good as he nearly picked up his first double-double of the season. As a starter, he showed here that despite the lousy shooting, he can still provide useful all-around stat lines. The starting role shouldn't last, however, as Irving is expected to return to the floor soon.

Smart will start at point guard for Sunday's game against the Raptors.
EDGE Analysis
The Celtics are set to be without usual starter Kyrie Irving (concussion) on Sunday, which allows Smart to pick up the start in his place. Considering Smart is already averaging 30.1 minutes off the bench, his promotion likely won't come with a drastic increase in playing time, though he could see an uptick in his usage. Along with Smart, Terry Rozier is expected to have increased value with Irving sidelined.

Smart generated 11 points (4-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight assists, eight rebounds, three steals and one block from 29 minutes in Sunday's lopsided 104-88 win in Orlando.
EDGE Analysis
With the Magic missing their top two point guards, this contest was over early. Coach Brad Stevens was able to give considerable run to reserves Smart, Terry Rozier and Semi Ojeleye. The extra minutes enabled Smart to deliver an exaggerated Smart-like stat line. Smart's poor shooting (31% year to date) continued, but he gathered more than usual rebounds, assists and steals. Expect Smart to continue being the first man off the bench Monday night as the Celtics travel to Atlanta, looking to extend their eight game winning streak.
