Smart and his agent will meet with Boston officials Thursday with the hope of reaching agreement on a new contract with the Celtics, Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Raptors emerging Wednesday as the victors in the Kawhi Leonard sweepstakes, it appears the Celtics will reserve the final opening on their 15-man roster for Smart. A restricted free agent, Smart hasn't gained much traction in negotiations with other teams this offseason and seems commitment to returning to the Celtics, who value his ability to defend both point guards and wings. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Smart and the Celtics are expected to agree to a four-year deal worth around $46-to-$50 million.

Smart and the Celtics have both expressed interest in him rejoining the team next season, A. Sherrod Blakely of NBC Sports Boston reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart heads into the offseason as a restricted free agent, and fresh off a Game 7 loss to the Cavaliers on Sunday, both Smart and general manager Danny Ainge expressed clear interest in one another during their exit interviews Monday. That's all well and good, but as time passes, finding a way to fit him onto the payroll might be an issue unless the Celtics would be willing to dip into the luxury tax.

Smart eked out four points (1-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-4 FT), seven assists, four rebounds and one steal across 31 minutes in Sunday's 87-79 ECF Game 7 loss to the Cavaliers.
EDGE Analysis
Smart's ugly shooting line contributed to a stagnant Celtic offense that shot only 34 percent from the field. Youngsters Smart, Terry Rozier and Jaylen Brown shot a combined 8-for-42. Sunday night was possibly Marcus Smart's last game in a Celtic uniform. He'll enter the off-season as a restricted free agent and knows Boston needs minutes to both develop Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown and leverage returning stars Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward. It remains to be seen if another NBA squad will lavish Smart with a difficult to match contract offer. On the positive, Smart displays game changing defensive skills, is versatile enough to play three different positions, and racks up a surprising amount of assists. But Smart continues to struggle with his shot, shooting 37 percent from the field during his four seasons in Boston.

Smart mustered 10 four points (4-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight assists, one steal and one block across 21 minutes in Friday's 109-99 ECF Game 6 loss in Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
The Marcus Smart roller coaster received extra run during this lopsided loss on Cleveland. With Boston trailing for the last three quarters, coach Brad Stevens turned to Smart and Marcus Morris for major minutes, hoping to spark a comeback run that never quite materialized. Smart was his usual erratic self, with a breathtaking block of a LeBron James dunk attempt, three ugly turnovers, questionable shot selection, but eight impressive, team-leading assists. Smart and his teammates now return to Boston for a battle royale, winner-take-all Game 7 on the parquet floor. Look for Smart to again receive monster minutes for the injury decimated Celtics.

Smart finished with 11 points (3-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), nine assists, five rebounds and four steals in 30 minutes during Tuesday's 107-94 victory over Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
Smart was at his best Tuesday, frustrating the Cavaliers on both ends of the floor in arguably one of his best performances of the season. While the numbers don't jump off the page, the four steals are very nice and his ability to impact the game by being in the right place at the right time is uncanny. He is sure to receive a hostile reception in Game Three on Saturday in Cleveland and the Celtics will hope that this motivates him to produce a similar performance as they look to steal an away game.

Smart (finger) registered nine points (4-12 FG, 1-5 3Pt), six assists, three rebounds and one steal across 25 minutes during Boston's 108-83 win over the Cavaliers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Smart played through a sore ring finger and provided one of his typically well-rounded stat lines. The fourth-year defensive maven projects as a pivotal component off the bench during the series, as his efforts on the defensive end, as a rebounder and as a facilitator should be integral to the Celtics' chances of success. He'll look to offer similarly solid production when Boston attempts to take a commanding 2-0 series lead Tuesday.

Smart will play through a sore ring finger during Game 1 against the Cavaliers on Sunday, Chris Mannix of Yahoo! Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The finger is on his shooting hand, which could hurt both his ball-handling and scoring ability. That makes him a slightly more risky DFS play for Sunday's slate, though it doesn't sound like it will have much of an impact on his overall workload.

Smart produced 14 points (3-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 8-13 FT), six rebounds, six assists and three steals in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 114-112 victory over Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
Smart moved back to the bench, allowing Jaylen Brown to slide into the starting lineup. The move did nothing to hurt Smart's production as he contributed across the stat sheet with another defensively solid outing. He also managed to make his way to the free-throw line with some regularity as he took advantage of some mismatches in the post. He is going to need to keep up the impressive play if the Celtics hope to defeat LeBron James and the Cavaliers to advance to the NBA Finals.

Smart will return to a bench role for Game 5 against the 76ers on Wednesday, Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Kyrie Irving (knee) has been out for some time, the Celtics are also set to be without backup Shane Larkin (shoulder) on Wednesday, so Smart will head back to the bench in order to provide some reserve help at the point guard position. He's still likely in line for a hefty workload, easily pushing for 30-plus minutes, so the demotion to the bench shouldn't hurt his fantasy value much, if at all. In the corresponding move, Jaylen Brown will re-enter the starting five.

Smart supplied 14 points (5-12 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks across 31 minutes during Boston's 103-92 loss to the 76ers in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference semifinal-round series.
EDGE Analysis
Smart ran into foul trouble later in the contest, but he was able to provide solid across-the-stat-sheet production once again. The four-year pro was encouragingly able to shoot over 40.0 percent for the second time in the last three games, accuracy that has led to a pair of double-digit efforts. Smart will look to play an important complementary role when the Celtics once again go for the series win in Wednesday's Game 5.
