Smart was fined $50,000 for shoving Joel Embiid to the ground in Wednesday's loss to the Sixers, Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
The more pressing news here is that Smart will not face a suspension after the shove earned him an ejection Wednesday night. The $50,000 is more than the NBA typically hands out in a situation like this, but league office cited "repeated acts of unsportsmanlike conduct" as the rationale for the heftier fine. Expect Smart to be on the floor for Saturday's game in Charlotte.

Smart was ejected from Wednesday's game against Philadelphia, Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart was ejected after pushing Joel Embiid to the floor midway through the third quarter Wednesday. Unless the league decides to impose any further disciplinary actions, Smart should return Saturday against Charlotte.

Smart (illness) has been cleared to play Thursday against the Kings.
EDGE Analysis
The Celtics held Smart out of practice Wednesday, but his status was never truly in much doubt, and the team has now officially removed him from the injury report. Smart could end up seeing a few more minutes Thursday in the absence of Terry Rozier (illness).

Smart (illness) is expected to play Thursday against the Kings, Brian Robb of BostonSportsJournal.com reports.

Smart was previously questionable due to an illness, but he's recovered enough to likely take the floor Thursday. With Terry Rozier (illness) out, Smart could take on extra reserve ballhandling duties.

Smart did not practice Wednesday because of an illness, John Karalis of MassLive.com reports. He is questionable for Thursday's game against the Kings.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear if Smart will be able to take the floor Thursday against the Kings, but we may learn more after the team's morning shootaround. Since the All-Star break, he's averaging 10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals in 29.8 minutes.

Smart finished with 16 points (6-8 FG, 4-6 3Pt), five assists, two rebounds and two steals across 29 minutes in the Celtics' 120-107 win over the Lakers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Smart stepped up with one of his rather rare sharp shooting nights, tying for second in scoring with Marcus Morris on the night in the process. The 25-year-old has actually been impressing on the offensive front since the final game of February, as he's shot at least 50.0 percent in four of his last six contests overall. Moreover, a lot of that success has come from behind the arc, as Smart has drained 54.2 percent of his shots from distance over his first five games of March. Smart is still also turning in his usual solid work in rebounds, assists and steals, and he now has multiple thefts in five of the last six contests overall.

Smart posted 13 points (5-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds, three assists and two steals across 36 minutes in Wednesday's 97-92 home loss to the Trail Blazers.
EDGE Analysis
Smart provided a nice 13 points after a rough stretch of averaging only 6.9 points per contest over his prior seven games. After shooting well the first half of the season, Smart's percentages are regressing a bit towards his sub-par career averages. Smart's slide coincides with Boston's recent poor play, as the Celtics have lost four in a row. Smart and his Celtic teammates will attempt to turn things around Friday at home versus the Wizards.

Smart posted eight points (3-14 FG, 0-8 3Pt, 2-4 FT), four rebounds, three assists and a steal across 33 minutes during Tuesday's 112-109 victory over the 76ers.
EDGE Analysis
Smart was ice cold from distance Tuesday, though the Celtics were still able to pull out a win on the road. Despite having a career season from beyond the arc (35.5 percent), the guard has shot just 10.5 percent from distance over the past three games. Smart will look to recharge over the All-Star break.

Smart contributed 17 points (6-10 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one steal across 32 minutes in Tuesday's 103-96 win over the Cavaliers.
EDGE Analysis
After two poor outings, Smart has responded now in consecutive games with amazing outings due to his ability to hit the three-pointer. It's difficult to say that the 33 percent three-point shooter will keep up his insane pace of late, but the confidence Smart has on offense should continue to translate into numbers.

Smart supplied 18 points (6-11 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven assists, four rebounds, and two steals in 28 minutes during Sunday's 134-129 win over the Thunder.
EDGE Analysis
Smart had combined to score just six points across the last two contests, but he has handed out exactly seven assists in three of the last four games. Overall Smart is a pretty steady distributor but an inconsistent scorer, though his main responsibility is to thwart the opposing team's best perimeter threat on the defensive end. As a result, he's only a viable option in deep leagues.
