Smart had just four points but added seven assists, two rebounds, and two steals in 23 minutes during Thursday's 128-100 victory over New York.
EDGE Analysis
Smart remained in the starting lineup despite the return of Jaylen Brown but was only able to score four points on 2-of-8 shooting. The switch looks like it could stick given the recent form of the Celtics which is not the best news for Smart. Running with the starters means Smart is basically the fifth option on offense. On the other end of the floor, he is going to be guarding the opposing teams best player which is going to mean more wasted effort. Smart is not a must-own player in standard formats but could be streamed in if you need steals and assists.

Smart totaled just six points but added four steals, three assists, and two rebounds in 27 minutes during Saturday's 118-109 victory over Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Smart continued to start for the injured Jaylen Brown (back) but struggled on the offensive end, scoring just six points. He does have a combined 10 assists and seven steals across his last two games and that is where his value lies. Whether starting or not, Smart is a tough player to own in standard formats unless you are punting points and field-goal efficiency.

Smart totaled eight points (3-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt), five assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block across 40 minutes in Monday's 124-107 win over the Pelicans.
EDGE Analysis
Smart drew the start in place of Jaylen Brown (back), but wasn't able to do much with it, collecting just eight points over 40 minutes. He had 19 points off the bench last time out in 25 minutes, so to see him get his season-high playing time and not reach double-digit points is slightly disappointing, especially with Brown due back soon.

Smart will join the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Pelicans, Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart gets the nod at shooting guard for the injured Jaylen Brown (back). Although Brown isn't expected to be out for much longer, Smart figures to benefit from Brown's absence for the time being.

Smart recorded 13 points (4-9 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 10 assists, three rebounds, and two steals in 33 minutes during Friday's 123-115 loss to the Jazz.
EDGE Analysis
Smart saw some additional playing time Friday with Kyrie Irving (personal) away from the team. Terry Rozier started in Irving's place but with him not being a pass first point-guard, Smart was afforded a greater responsibility in terms of facilitation. With Irving returning for the next game, Smart will see his playing time once again reduced, leaving him as more of a deep league kind of guy.

Smart generated 15 points (5-9 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three assists and two rebounds across 26 minutes during the Celtics' 102-95 preseason loss to the Cavaliers on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Smart enjoyed a sharp night from the field, a relative rarity for the defensive-minded wing. The 24-year-old's scoring total led the Celtics on the night and represented a nice boost from his four-point exhibition debut Sunday against the Hornets. Despite the success on the scoreboard Tuesday, Smart's primary contributions in the coming season will once again come on the other end of the floor, where he's expected to provide his trademark shutdown defense off the bench behind starting two-guard Jaylen Brown, and on occasion, at small forward in relief of Gordon Hayward.

Smart (personal) contributed four points (1-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, two assists and one steal across 18 minutes during the Celtics' 115-112 preseason win over the Hornets on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Smart was back with the team after missing Friday's exhibition opener against the Hornets for personal reasons. The 24-year-old is expected to once again offer his suffocating defense off the bench in the coming season after averaging over a steal per game for the fourth time in as many seasons to start his career during the 2017-18 campaign. Smart remains limited offensively, but his ability to offer solid contributions across the rest of the stat sheet and typically solid second-unit minutes keep him viable in deeper formats.

Smart (personal) has rejoined the Celtics and will play in Sunday's preseason matchup with the Hornets, Brian Robb of the Boston Sports Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart missed Friday's preseason opener against the Hornets due to a personal matter, but has since rejoined the team. He'll slot in as depth in the backcourt, but he may not see a huge workload considering it's just an exhibition contest. Smart is expected to battle Terry Rozier for backcourt minutes off the bench this season.

Smart is not with the Celtics for Friday's game against the Hornets, Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
All the Celtics have said about the situation is that Smart is dealing with a personal issue, but he's expected to rejoin the team sometime over the weekend. Consider him questionable to participate in Sunday's rematch with the Hornets.

Smart signed a four-year deal with the Celtics on Thursday, Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perhaps one of the last dominos of the NBA free agency sweepstakes took his fall in the early hours of Thursday. Smart's four-year deal is worth up to $52 million, a deal that could likely tighten Boston's finances moving forward. At just 24 years old, Smart has carved out a reputation as one of the league's best perimeter defenders. Despite somewhat of an afterthought amidst a star-studded green and white roster, Smart tallied 10.2 points per game and 4.8 assists per games during the 2017-18 campaign. Smart's return to Boston coupled with a new look eastern conference makes the Celtics a strong contender to win the east.
