Smart (oblique) progressed to running on a treadmill Tuesday, Jay King of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart remains out indefinitely while working back from a relatively severe oblique injury, which kept him out of Round 1 and is expected to sideline him for the entirety of Round 2, as well. Smart was initially given a 4-to-6-week timetable after sustaining the injury late in the regular season, though coach Brad Stevens referred to that projection as "aggressive," so the Celtics will likely have to advance to the Conference Finals, or beyond, for Smart to return to the floor this season. Nonetheless, the fact that he's been cleared to resume running represents a step in the right direction.

Coach Brad Stevens didn't sound overly optimistic Thursday when asked about Smart's (oblique) recovery, calling the guard's projected 4-to-6-week timetable "aggressive," Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stevens could simply be tempering expectations, but it's nonetheless discouraging for the Celtics, who lost Smart midway through Sunday's loss to the Magic. Smart will miss all of Round 1 against Indiana, and as of now it appears Boston is bracing to be without its best perimeter defender for most -- if not all -- of Round 2, assuming the Celtics advance.

Smart has been diagnosed with a torn left oblique and could be sidelined for the first two rounds of the postseason, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Early indications for Smart by general manager Danny Ainge suggested the guard might be ready for Game 1, but it turns out Smart has suffered a significant injury. One of the top defensive players in the league, Smart's absence will undoubtedly affect the Celtics in Round 1. In looking for a replacement, coach Brad Stevens will likely turn to Jaylen Brown to take over a significant amount of Smart's minutes. It's possible Kyrie Irving and Terry Rozier share the floor more as well.

General manager Danny Ainge said Wednesday that Smart (oblique) is considered day-to-day heading into the Celtics' first-round playoff series against the Pacers this weekend, Tom Westerholm of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boston held out seven players with listed injuries in the regular-season finale Tuesday against the Wizards, but only Smart's status is in any question heading into the postseason. Ainge suggested Smart's situation may not even be all that dire, as he left open the possibility for the defensive-minded guard to practice Thursday. Expect the Celtics to provide an update on Smart's outlook for Game 1 -- which will likely fall Sunday -- following Thursday's session.

Smart (oblique) won't play Tuesday against Washington, Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart will be sidelined for the last game of the regular season while the Celtics continue to monitor his oblique injury. Though Boston's injury list is lengthy for Tuesday evening, Smart's injury may be the only one worth worrying about heading into the postseason.

Smart has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against Orlando due to a strained oblique, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Initial reports indicated that Smart had suffered a bruised hip, but further evaluation has discovered an injury that's far more serious. The Celtics will continue to keep an eye on Smart over the next 24-to-48 hours to determine the extent of the issue, per Wojnarowski, but at this point, there's a real possibility that he could miss time in the playoffs while on the mend.

Smart won't return to Sunday's game against Orlando due to a left hip contusion, Jay King of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart will join Jayson Tatum (lower leg) on the bench, who also left Sunday's clash due to injury. Smart's injury doesn't appear to be serious, although the Celtics will shut him down with home-court advantage for the first round of the playoffs already locked up.

Smart scored 16 points (6-11 FG, 4-8 3Pt) and registered a rebound along with an assist and a steal over 26 minutes Monday against Miami.
EDGE Analysis
Smart hit on 50 percent of his 3-point attempts and was one of four Boston starters who finished in double figures, although he failed to contribute much elsewhere. The 25-year-old Oklahoma State product has scored 14 or more points in three of his previous five contests and will aim to continue his recent success Wednesday night in Miami.

Smart scored 21 points (8-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT) while adding six rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block in 33 minutes during Tuesday's 116-106 win over the Cavaliers.
EDGE Analysis
With Kyrie Irving (rest) getting another night off, Smart stepped up and tied Jayson Tatum for the team lead in scoring. The 25-year-old guard hasn't been a consistent scorer this season -- this was the first time he'd popped for at least 20 points since he scored 21 against the Nets on Jan. 28 -- but he remains a threat at the other end of the court, grabbing multiple steals in nine of the last 14 games and averaging 11.9 points, 4.3 assists, 3.1 boards, 2.1 steals and 1.7 three-pointers over that stretch.

Smart ended with 14 points (6-14 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, and one assist in 34 minutes during Sunday's 115-96 loss to the Spurs.
EDGE Analysis
Smart led his team with 14 points, basically summing up the night for the Celtics as they were thumped but the Spurs. Smart has quietly been putting up solid production over the past few weeks despite the Celtics on-court struggles. He should be a mid-round player the rest of the way with plenty of court time coming his way as the Celtics attempt to force their way into the top four.
