The Trail Blazers and unrestricted free agent Josh McRoberts have mutual interest, according to Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com.
The Blazers reached out to McRoberts' representatives soon after free agency opened, and league sources told CSNNW.com that he's "fond of Portland." Damian Lillard has lobbied for Portland to sign Channing Frye, and Spencer Hawes is also in the mix, but one way or another the Blazers seem intent upon upgrading their frontcourt depth.

Hornets coach Steve Clifford texted Josh McRoberts and Cody Zeller last night to say that drafting Noah Vonleh doesn't change how the Hornets value them.
McRoberts, while his stats don't jump off the page, had a nice 2013-14 season, and perhaps earned himself a bit of a pay bump. McBob dished out 4.3 assists per game with just 1.1 turnovers, while spreading the floor with his 3-point shooting. While the Hornets would like to bring him back, it's possible he receives an offer on the open market that Charlotte simply can't match. If McRoberts doesn't return with Charlotte, Vonleh and Zeller will split minutes at the power forward spot.

General manager Rich Cho said drafting Noah Vonleh doesn't change the interest in re-signing Josh McRoberts.
The Hornets have used two lottery picks in the past two seasons on power forwards, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see them not bring back McRoberts, despite how he was outstanding last year. Plus, Vonleh is expected to play more out of the high post and further from the basket, much like how McBob did. He's an unrestricted free agent and the Hornets may opt to use their cap space in other areas.

Josh McRoberts will be an unrestricted free agent this summer after declining his $2.8 million player option for 2014-15.
This was a logical decision for McRoberts, who should be able to land a significantly higher annual salary on a multi-year contract. Although he only averaged 8.5 points last season, he stretched the court with solid 3-point shooting and dished out 4.3 assists with only 1.1 turnovers per game, giving him the league's second best assist-to-turnover ratio behind only Chris Paul. McRoberts is currently recovering from toe surgery he had in late April, but he should be 100 percent recovered for training camp.

Josh McRoberts underwent successful surgery on Wednesday to remove bone spurs from his left big toe.
McBob was useful in some fantasy leagues this season but should lose time to Cody Zeller next season, if Zeller continues to develop over the summer.

Josh McRoberts has an opt out clause in his contract that he can exercise after the 2013-14 season.
McRoberts can opt out of his contract after the 2013-14 season, but 42 minutes of playing time in a Game 4 loss Monday night indicates that coach Steve Clifford hopes McBob sticks around. McRoberts averaged 38.3 minutes per game in the Bobcats' opening round loss to the Heat and put up averages of 11.5 points, 2.0 3-pointers, 6.8 boards, 3.8 dimes, and 1.0 steals in the series. With those types of minutes and numbers, McRoberts could provide owners with late-round value next season and it would be a surprise to see the Bobcats let him leave Charlotte.

Josh McRoberts had 13 points, nine rebounds, a steal and two 3-pointers on 3-of-9 shooting in Saturday's Game 3 loss to the Heat.
He also tackled LeBron James a couple times, but it didn't slow him or the Heat down tonight. This series is, as the Replacements once said, "all over but the shouting."

Josh McRoberts has been given a Flagrant-2 foul and fined $20,000 for elbowing LeBron James during Wednesday's game.
The Bobcats are fortunate that their starting PF avoided a suspension, as he crushed LeBron's throat without making any real play on the ball. The Bobcats face a daunting 0-2 deficit in their first round series, and they'll look to gain some traction at home for Game 3 on Saturday.

Josh McRoberts denied any malicious intent on a hard foul against LeBron James during Wednesday's Game 2 loss.
The Heat were upset with the lack of a flagrant foul call on the play, but McBob denied any intent on the play. "Just kind of got caught up in the air there," he said. "Came for the rotation. I'd have to see it. But I think, for me, in real time, he was coming pretty fast down the lane, he's a big, strong guy. I was just trying to stop him from, first, getting the shot up. But then I think I just kind of got caught up in the air. It probably looked worse than what it was. They didn't call it. So, no. It wasn't intentional, so, no." The league hasn't come out with a statement on the play yet, but there is a good possibility that McRoberts faces a retroactive flagrant foul or even a suspension.

Josh McRoberts, who had eight points, one rebound, four assists and two 3-pointers in Wednesday's Game 2 loss to the Heat, also appeared to get away with a flagrant foul against LeBron James.
A flagrant wasn't called during the game, but he clearly led with his elbow to James' face on the play. A suspension could be coming, or he could just be assessed with a retro-flagrant foul. Either way, the Bobcats are down 0-2 to the Heat and it's not looking goof for them bouncing back against the champs, even though the next two games are in Charlotte.
