Coach Brad Stevens is mixing up his frontcourt a bit Wednesday, electing to start Jared Sullinger and Johnson at the four and five positions. Johnson's daily fantasy value increases with the potential increase in minutes, as he could provide decent scoring and rebounding numbers against Indiana.

Johnson amassed 15 points (6-8 FG, 1-1 3 Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal in a preseason win over the Nets on Monday.

EDGE Analysis

Johnson keeps putting up nice scoring numbers this preseason and he's definitely making a case as the starting power forward or center. It's unclear if Johnson will slot in as the center with David Lee at the power forward slot, but it appears coach Brad Stevens is keen on making Tyler Zeller the starting center with David Lee as the starting power forward. In any case, it's all muddled up and it would be best to just avoid the whole situation for now.

Johnson scored 19 points (8-13 FG, 2-3 3Pt) and accumulated six rebounds, two steals and two blocks in a 109-105 win over the Nets on Tuesday.

EDGE Analysis

The three-pointers here may be the most notable stat, as he continues to try to implement that into his game. It appears he'll be the regular starter for the Celtics and his ability to score, rebound, defend and hit threes makes him valuable in almost every format. If everything comes together, Johnson has breakout written all over him.

Johnson returned to practice Sunday after sitting out with an illness, Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reports.

The Celtics as a whole have been dealing with a flu bug, which has caused a few different players to miss time. Johnson sat out Thursday's matchup with Real Madrid because of it, but is feeling better and was able to return to practice Sunday. With three more days of rest until Wednesday's game against the Nets, there's no reason to think Johnson won't be able to suit up and play.

A bug has been working its way around the Celtics locker room recently, so it's possible Johnson will be isolated from the team for a few days until he shows improvement with his condition. The illness shouldn't jeopardize Johnson's availability for the majority of what remains of the Celtics' preseason schedule, but the big man's chances of opening the regular season in a starting role appear to have dissipated. Coach Brad Stevens has used David Lee and Tyler Zeller as his starting frontcourt for both of the Celtics' exhibitions thus far, leaving Johnson, Jared Sullinger, Kelly Olynyk, and Jonas Jerebko to fight for reserve minutes.

Johnson signed a two-year, $24 million deal with the Celtics on Wednesday, Sam Amick of USA Today reports. The 28-year-old will accept a short-term deal with his sights set on hitting free agency again in two summers when the cap is expected to be significantly higher. Johnson averaged 9.3 points and 6.1 rebounds in 26 minutes for Toronto last season, and he'll compete for a starting spot in the Celtics' frontcourt.

Johnson averaged 9.3 points (57% FG, 41% 3Pt, 61% FT), 6.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 26 minutes per game during 75 regular season game in 2014-15. The 28-year-old hard-nosed forward may have played his final game with the Raptors, who could opt for a shakeup this summer after being swept by the Wizards. In four playoff games Johnson contributed 11.5 points (69% FG, 0% 3Pt, 50% FT), 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.3 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 28 minutes per game.

Johnson grabbed a double-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block in 33 minutes of action in Game 3 against the Wizards. Johnson has been fairly consistent in the Playoffs, averaging 14.0 points and 8.3 rebounds so far. He'll have a chance to help the Raptors avoid a sweep in Game 4 at Washington.

Johnson will start in Friday's Game 3 against the Wizards. Johnson has scored in double-digits through the first two games of the series and is getting the reward of a spot in the starting lineup over Tyler Hansbrough as a result. Although, Johnson was already averaging 26.4 minutes in those two games so his role on the court may end up being somewhat similar as in Games 1 and 2.

Johnson is expected to have a large role in Tuesday's Game 2 against the Wizards, Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports reports. Johnson came off the bench in Game 1 but still led his team with 18 points Saturday. Coach Dwane Casey admitted that he may switch up his rotation for Game 2, although the coach does expect Johnson to play around 34 minutes like he did in Game 1. If for some reason Johnson is moved into the starting lineup then James Johnson would likely be the unfortunate party who moves to the bench.
