The Cubs are listing Darvish (forearm) as their starting pitcher for Saturday's game in Milwaukee.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish was a late scratch ahead of his previously scheduled home start versus the Brewers over the weekend after experiencing forearm tightness, but manager Joe Maddon indicated that the injury wasn't anything serious. Per Jordan Bastian of MLB.com, Maddon offered similar sentiments regarding Darvish's injury earlier this week, so the right-hander will be on track to re-enter the rotation when a fifth starter is required again Saturday. Before missing his last turn, Darvish had been the Cubs' most productive rotation member since the All-Star break, posting a 2.93 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 11.7 K/9 in nine outings.

Darvish was scratched from Sunday's start versus the Brewers with right forearm tightness, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish is only expected to miss the one start as the team plans for him to take the mound next Saturday at Milwaukee. According to Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com, the 33-year-old has been battling the issue over the last month. Tyler Chatwood will start Sunday in his place.

Darvish (5-6) pitched eight innings of one-run ball to earn the win Tuesday against the Mets. He allowed five hits and a walk, while striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
This is what the Cubs were hoping to get when they invested $126 million into Darvish before the 2018 season. The only blemish against the Japanese righty was a solo home run by Pete Alonso in the fourth inning, but he was otherwise excellent in a big game against a New York team that is chasing Chicago for a possible wild card spot. Darvish did walk his first batter since July 23, though he generally exhibited great control once again and navigated his eight innings efficiently on 104 pitches (73 strikes). The 33-year-old will look to keep rolling in his next start, which is slated for Sunday in another pivotal game against the Brewers.

Darvish did not factor into the decision during Wednesday's 12-11 win over the Giants, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits while striking out eight over 5.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
After serving up a two-run home run to Evan Longoria in the first inning, Darvish found some of his own success at the plate with an RBI single in the second inning to give the Cubs a 3-2 lead. He settled into a better groove until the fifth, when Mike Yastrzemski broke through with another two-run shot. Darvish then allowed back-to-back homers in the sixth to Stephen Vogt and Kevin Pillar before getting pulled. On the bright side, the 33-year-old did not issue any walks for the sixth straight game. Darvish now owns a 4.43 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 176:51 K:BB and will look to bounce back in New York against the Mets on Tuesday.

Darvish allowed four hits and no walks while striking out 10 across seven scoreless innings Thursday against the Phillies. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish was masterful Thursday, racking up 17 swinging strikes on 92 total pitches to turn in his third double-digit strikeout effort of the season. He also kept the ball in the yard, not allowing a homer for the first time in four starts. Perhaps equally important, Darvish also showed strong control of the strike zone, turning in his fourth consecutive start without surrendering a free pass. After a disastrous start to the season, Darvish has recovered to post a 4.21 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 168 strikeouts across 139 innings for the season. He'll look to keep things going in his next start, currently scheduled for Wednesday against San Francisco.

Darvish (4-6) took the loss Friday as the Cubs fell 5-2 to the Reds, allowing four runs on four hits -- including three home runs -- over six innings while striking out nine.
EDGE Analysis
All four of Cincy's hits off the right-hander went for extra bases, as Josh VanMeter's double joined a trio of long balls by Aristides Aquino, Eugenio Suarez and Joey Votto. Darvish has now served up 26 homers this season -- one shy of his career-worst performance in that category -- in 24 starts, and he'll carry a 4.43 ERA and 158:51 K:BB through 132 innings into his next outing Thursday in Philadelphia.

Darvish (4-5) secured the win after allowing one run on five hits while striking out eight over five innings Sunday against Milwaukee.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish certainly didn't show any signs of illness during his outing, surrendering just one run in the first on a Christian Yelich solo blast, though skipper Joe Madden stated after the game that Darvish was "pretty much gassed." The 32-year-old right-hander will be considered day-to-day heading into his next outing, which lines up for Friday in Cincinnati.

Darvish (3-5) allowed just two runs over six innings but was saddled with the loss in Tuesday's game against the Cardinals. He gave up six hits and no walks, while striking out nine.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish probably deserved a better fate, but Adam Wainwright and the St. Louis bullpen held the Cubs to just a single run. The Japanese righty has had an up-and-down season, as evidenced by his 4.46 ERA overall, but he's been better lately. Darvish has gone at least six innings in five straight starts, and he has a 2.93 ERA in this stretch. He'll look to keep up the strong work in his next outing, which is scheduled for Sunday in a pivotal matchup with the Brewers.

Darvish didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Giants, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk over six innings while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander attacked the strike zone, throwing 57 of 77 pitches for strikes, but he was on the hook for his fifth loss of the year until the Cubs forced extra innings with runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Darvish has turned a corner with his control -- he hasn't walked more than two batters in any of his last eight starts, posting a 4.07 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 54:7 K:BB through 48.2 innings over that stretch. He'll look for a better result in his next outing July 30 in St. Louis.

Darvish (3-4) earned the win Wednesday against the Reds after allowing only two hits over six shutout innings. He struck out seven and walked none.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish has allowed zero runs and four hits in his last 12 innings, as he appears to have found his groove coming out of the All-Star break. The 32-year-old has a 4.46 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 126:50 K:BB through 109 innings and should take the mound next week at San Francisco.
