Peralta (calf) will start his rehab assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs on Wednesday.

It has been exactly two weeks since Peralta landed on the DL with a right calf strain, and the right-hander has progressed smoothly during his time on the mend. Peralta is in line for a few rehab games while he looks to shake off the rust and return to form following his rough batch of outings prior to going down with this injury. It is uncertain which role Peralta will take on once he returns to the Brewers, but he could slide back into a middle relief spot after the All-Star break, barring any setbacks during his rehab appearances.

Peralta was placed on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday with a right calf strain.

EDGE Analysis

It's unclear when the injury cropped up, but it's apparently serious enough to warrant a trip to the disabled list. He'll be eligible to return June 30 should he be ready. Peralta struggled mightily since being shifted to the bullpen, compiling a 10.54 ERA and 14:11 K:BB across 13.2 innings (nine appearances). In the meantime, southpaw Brent Suter was recalled from Triple-A to take his place on the roster and in the bullpen.

Since being moved to the bullpen, Peralta has given up four runs in 8.1 innings with a 1.32 WHIP.

EDGE Analysis

At first glance, Peralta's bullpen numbers don't look like much to be excited about, but that changes once you compare them to his starts this year. In eight starts and 40 innings, his ERA was 6.08 and he had given up eight home runs. Since changing roles, he has yet to give up a homer and has increased his strikeout rate from 7.2 per nine innings to 8.6. It is unclear when and if he will return to the rotation this season, but what little fantasy value he does retain seems to come more from a relieving role than a starting one.

Manager Craig Counsell said Peralta will pitch out of the bullpen moving forward, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

EDGE Analysis

Aside from an impressive first start, Peralta has struggled this season, posting a 6.08 ERA and 32:17 K:BB through 40 innings (eight starts) this season. It's unclear who will fill his spot in the rotation for the time being, though Counsell said his replacement will likely be announced Thursday. Junior Guerra (calf) should be able to fill the void once he is activated from the disabled list, but the Brewers will likely need a spot starter for Friday's matchup against the Cubs.

Peralta labored through 4.1 innings Sunday against the Mets but came away with a no-decision after giving up seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and a walk while striking out one.

EDGE Analysis

Thankfully for the 28-year-old, the Brewers were able to mount a comeback against the porous Mets bullpen to take him off the hook for the loss. However, that doesn't change how unimpressive Peralta was Sunday, needing 92 pitches to complete his outing while only tossing 56 of those for strikes. Granted, much of the damage was done in the last two innings of his start, but frankly outings like this have become par for the course, with Sunday's performance raising his ERA to a career-high 6.08 mark. Peralta will look to bounce back in his upcoming scheduled start against the Cubs on Friday.

Peralta gave up four runs on five hits and three walks in 4.1 innings against the Red Sox on Tuesday. He struck out four.

EDGE Analysis

All Peralta needed to do was finish five frames to qualify for the win, but he just couldn't do it, as he fell apart in the fifth, giving up three runs. The Brewers went on to win without him, though. Peralta's shown flickers of promise here and there, but his 5.30 ERA and 1.51 WHP look a lot like his ugly numbers from the last two seasons. Even with the scarcity of good pitching these days, it's hard to roll him out in most fantasy formats.

Peralta (4-2) gave up two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven over 5.1 innings in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Cardinals.

EDGE Analysis

He held St. Louis off the board for five innings before running into some trouble in the sixth, exiting the game with runners on second and third and one out, but Jacob Barnes allowed both those runners to score to saddle Peralta with the loss. The 27-year-old righty will look for a better result Sunday in Pittsburgh.

EDGE Analysis

Run support has been the biggest factor in Peralta's early-season success in the wins column. He sports a 5.19 ERA, 5.79 FIP and 1.50 WHIP, after all. It was promising to see an uptick in strikeouts Wednesday, but his career 6.4 K/9 and 16.4 strikeout percentage entering the outing suggest it was likely a mirage. Peralta lines up for a road start against the Cardinals next.

EDGE Analysis

The 27-year-old's velocity spike to begin the season has attracted some buzz, but so far the extra mph hasn't resulted in better fantasy stats, as Peralta's 4.71 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 13:9 K:BB through 21 innings are right in line with his mediocre career numbers. He'll next take the mound Wednesday at home against the Reds.

Peralta (3-0) earned his third win in as many tries Sunday against the Reds, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks across six innings. He struck out one.

EDGE Analysis

Peralta needed just 79 pitches en route to a quality start, pumping in first-pitch strikes to 16 of 23 batters and inducing 10 groundball outs. His only blemish came on a two-run homer to Eugenio Suarez in the fourth inning, but he retired seven of the final nine batters he faced from that point on. Peralta has been a pleasant surprise this season after struggling a year ago and will take a 2.65 ERA along with his perfect record into Friday's start against the Cardinals.
