Wily Peralta will not make his final regular season start due to a blister on his throwing hand. The 24-year-old right-hander will finish 2013 with a disappointing 4.37 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 129/73 K/BB ratio in 183 1/3 innings. The Brewers were hoping that he'd take a big step forward this year. He'll try again in 2014.

Wily Peralta was bothered by a blister on his throwing hand during Sunday's victory over the Cardinals, leading to his poor command. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke indicated after the game that they almost had to pull him from the game earlier, but he wanted to gut it out through five innings for the home fans. Rather than risk re-aggravation, the club may decide to skip Peralta's final start of the season and get a look at top prospect Jimmy Nelson instead.

Wily Peralta was a bit erratic against the Cardinals on Sunday night, but managed to earn his 11th victory of the season after allowing three runs on five hits in his five-plus innings of work. Peralta issued five walks and struck out three on the night. The Cardinals got on the board when he gave up a solo homer to Matt Carpenter in the third inning. That was the extent of the damage against him until he allowed three straight singles to lead off the sixth inning, two of which came around to score after departing. It's been an up-and-down season for the 24-year-old right-hander who will head into Saturday's start against the Mets in New York with an 11-15 record, 4.37 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 129/73 K/BB ratio over 183 1/3 innings.

Things looked pretty bleak midway through the season, but he's been strong since the beginning of July, amassing a 3.02 ERA in 14 starts.

Peralta carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning but Matt Holliday changed that with a two-out, 424-foot blast. Peralta allowed just two hits total but he walked four and the Milwaukee offense didn't strike until late. He'll carry a 9-15 record, 4.49 ERA and 1.41 WHIP into his next start at Miller Park against the Reds.

Wily Peralta allowed three runs over six innings in a win over the Pirates on Wednesday. Peralta was able to work around nine hits and a walk to deliver the quality start, striking out six in the outing. The win moved Peralta to 9-14 with a 4.51 ERA through 29 starts. His assignment doesn't get any easier in his next start, as he'll face the Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Wednesday.

Wily Peralta allowed just one run in five innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Reds. The only run he allowed was on a Chris Heisey solo shot in the bottom of the fifth inning. Peralta has been inconsistent this year but is still worth streaming in some deeper mixed fantasy leagues. He will face the Angels in an interleague matchup at home next time out.

Wily Peralta was knocked around for seven earned runs on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Reds. Peralta struck out four and walked four before Milwaukee was forced to yank him at 93 pitches. The youngster from the D.R. is talented but maddeningly inconsistent. He entered the game 3-3 with a 2.06 ERA in 52 1/3 innings over eight starts since the beginning of July, holding opposing hitters to an anemic .199/.279/.298 slash line over that stretch. Of course, he's prone to blowing hitters away or imploding in any given outing. Peralta owners will have to play the matchups and cross their fingers the rest of the season. Saturday's scheduled start in Cincinnati against these same Reds is an example of a matchup where the youngster should be stapled to your bench.
