Chen gave up five runs on nine hits -- three of which left the yard -- in 5.1 innings Wednesday against the Twins. He struck out two and avoided the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The Taiwanese lefty was fortunate that opposing starter Ricky Nolasco was just as bad, leaving Chen with his fourth consecutive no-decision. This season's been a decidedly mixed bag for Chen, who does own a solid 57:16 K:BB in 71 innings, but has also given up a whopping 11 homers and 36 runs, numbers that don't play in most fantasy circles. His average fastball velocity's dropped to a career low -- well more than a mile per hour worse than his marks from the last three seasons with Baltimore -- and his strand-rate luck hasn't held up like it did before. All in all, there are better fantasy options out there in mixed leagues.

Chen allowed two runs on one hit and three walks through six innings against Pittsburgh on Thursday. He struck out five, and didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Chen carried a no-hitter into the final three frames, but he crumbled after Jung-Ho Kang hit a leadoff double in the seventh, and in the end he didn't factor into the decision. Chen dazzled through the first six innings, and he will look to repeat that type of performance in his next start against the Twins on the road Wednesday.

Chen didn't factor into the decision in the Marlins' 7-2 loss to the Braves on Saturday. He surrendered two hits, an earned run and a walk over five innings, while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old had reached 90 pitches by the end of five frames, leading to his exit. He turned in solid work during this time on the mound, with the one earned run yielded representing his lowest amount in that category in a start this season. Chen also successfully stayed away from the long ball, always an encouraging sign for a pitcher who's had his share of struggles keeping the ball in the park. After earning a decision in only two of five starts during May, Chen will try to get back in the win column against the Pirates next Thursday.

Chen allowed five runs on nine hits and three walks with three strikeouts over 5.2 innings in a no-decision Monday against Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
This one could've gone a lot worse for Chen, who allowed 12 baserunners and gave up two home runs. Luckily for him, both of them were solo blasts, and that's the only thing that kept the Rays from opening the floodgates. Chen has allowed four home runs in his last four starts and now has given up eight in 54.2 innings this season, a rough 1.3 HR/9. Chen's 45:12 K:BB is promising, and more starts in Marlins Park will probably help him keep the ball in the yard, but Chen's mistakes are getting punished hard thus far and his 4.61 ERA reflects that.

Chen was charged with three runs (two earned) on six hits over six innings in a loss to the Phillies on Tuesday. He struck out six and did not walk a batter.
EDGE Analysis
It was another quality start for Chen, his sixth in eight turns this season, but the Marlins' offense didn't provide him any run support and thus the 30-year-old was stuck with his second loss. The numbers don't jump off the page, but the peripherals for Chen remain strong, and he's inducing groundballs at a career-high rate. He lines up for starts against the Rays and Braves next week.

Chen (3-1) struck out a cool dozen Brewers over 6.1 innings Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks in a 3-2 victory.
EDGE Analysis
Washington's Max Scherzer will get most of Wednesday's accolades after he struck out 20 Tigers, but Chen put on a sparkling performance of his own. The 12 whiffs are that much crazier because Chen failed to strike out a single hitter in his last outing, a four-run mess in five innings against the Phillies. He's never been a big strikeout guy, and fantasy owners shouldn't expect that from him, but they should expect the Taiwanese lefty to bring his ERA down into the mid-threes by the time all's said and done. His current 4.40 mark doesn't jive with his 3.56 FIP and 3.61 xFIP.

Chen was battered around Friday by the Phillies, allowing 11 hits and four runs over five innings, but escaped with a no-decision in the 6-4 victory.
EDGE Analysis
Chen (2-1) had posted four straight quality starts heading into the Friday evening affair but failed to hold on to an early lead. He walked one and failed to deliver any strikeouts. Chen had been pitching very well since a poor performance Opening Day, but now sits with a 4.66 ERA and 1.28 WHIP through six starts. He'll look to straighten things out in his next start Wednesday at home against the Brewers.

Chen (2-1) defeated the Brewers, allowing just three runs on four hits over 6.2 innings Saturday. He also struck out four and walked two.
EDGE Analysis
He left the game with two runners on and two outs in the seventh, but Marlins relief pitcher Craig Breslow tossed up a single and home run to the two batters he faced. The inherited runners were charged to Chen. Fortunately, the Marlins had enough of a cushion, so Chen still received the victory. Since a rough outing to open the season, Chen has turned in four straight quality starts. His next start will be Friday versus the Phillies.

Chen (1-1) beat the Dodgers with 6.2 innings of two-run ball Monday, limiting them to just six hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Chen gave up solo home runs to Yasiel Puig and Trayce Thompson in the fourth inning, but was able to keep Los Angeles off the board the rest of the way. The lefty has turned in three straight quality starts following a clunker in his Marlins debut, and will have a strong chance of pushing that streak to four on the road Saturday against a Brewers offense averaging just 4.0 runs per game.

Chen (0-1) struck out seven while limiting the Nationals to three runs on six hits over seven innings Wednesday, but got nearly no offensive support in a losing effort.
EDGE Analysis
After an uninspiring Marlins debut, Chen's bounced back with two quality outings in a row. Considering his improvement in home ballpark, it wouldn't be surprising to see him keep bringing down his ratios and ultimately outperform last season's career-best 3.34 ERA and 1.22 WHIP, particularly if he can fare this well against quality competition. He'll draw the Dodgers on Monday.
