Chen will start the first game of Saturday's double header against the Yankees, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chen had his Friday start wiped out by rain, so the announcement doesn't come as much of a surprise, and will now get an extra day of rest before making his final start of the season.

Chen's start Friday has been postponed due to rain.
EDGE Analysis
The Orioles and Yankees will make up the game as part of a double header Saturday. No official announcement has been made yet, but Chen figures to draw the start in one of those two contests.

Chen took the loss Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings while striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
He came up one out shy of his third straight quality start, but needed 111 pitches to do it. Chen's next start is scheduled for Thursday in a tough home matchup against the Blue Jays, but the Orioles could elect to give him additional rest again and push him back to the final weekend against the Yankees instead.

Chen (9-7) limited the Royals to two runs over seven innings to record the win Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Chen only struck out two batters on the evening, but was able to flummox the Royals by mixing his slider and changeup well throughout the night. At one point, he recorded 10 outs in a row before allowing a double in the seventh, but was able to finish out the inning without much damage. It went down as the longest outing for the lefty since Aug. 10.

Chen had another subpar start Monday, allowing five runs - four earned - on nine hits, including two home runs with five strikeouts and one walk against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Chen is in a second half spiral. After posting a 2.78 ERA in 17 first half starts, he has ballooned to a 4.85 ERA in the second half. Hitters are hitting .328 against Chen in the second half after he held hitters to .235 in the first half. His strikeout rate has been constant, so Chen may be a victim of bad luck. However, he is a fly ball pitcher and can be susceptible to give up home runs, as evidenced by 28 long balls allowed this year.

Chen struggled Monday, allowing five runs on nine hits in 4.2 innings against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Chen was pinned with the loss, giving up two home runs and ending a string of four straight quality starts. Chen is still a reliable option, but he has given up 24 home runs on the season and could be on a career worst pace in that category. The home run total represents a large share when considering Chen has allowed 55 earned runs on the season.

Chen pitched well in a no-decision Monday, holding the Twins to two runs in seven innings.
Chen has been in a groove since June, allowing no more than two runs in a game since May 30. The lefty has been prone to the home run ball however, allowing two homers in each of his last three starts. Chen's next start will come this weekend against the Nationals.

Chen (4-4) gave up two runs on four hits and a walk over eight efficient innings Wednesday against the Rangers.
Chen struck out just two batters and gave up a pair of homers, but the Rangers weren't able to make him pay much for either of those things. He's now given up two or fewer runs in five consecutive starts, and Chen can typically be counted on to record more strikeouts than he did in this one. The Korean lefty will head to Minnesota to face the Twins next week.

Chen allowed two runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out five over six innings, but came away with a no-decision in a game the Orioles would win 4-3 over Cleveland on Friday night.
He now sports a very solid 2.90 ERA, and pitched well in this one other than allowing a pair of solo home runs. Chen has been one of the Orioles most reliable starters, and while he was sent down after his last start (he has options left) he should remain a mainstay in their rotation for the foreseeable future.
