Wandy Rodriguez has been given a cortisone shot in his left elbow. Rodriguez had another setback with his forearm/elbow issue during a bullpen session Friday. He'll be shut down for a few days to let the shot take effect before being re-evaluated. Consider him out indefinitely for the time being.

Wandy Rodriguez (forearm) experienced soreness in his left forearm after throwing a bullpen session Friday. It's yet another setback for Rodriguez, who was supposed to return from the disabled list by the end of June but can now be ruled out until at least mid-July. Wandy had a 3.59 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 46/12 K/BB ratio in 62 2/3 innings before hitting the shelf. This is obviously a troubling development for the currently-cruising Pirates.

Wandy Rodriguez (forearm) felt a little sore after his rehab start on Sunday. He'll be given a little extra time off before his next rehab outing, as he'll throw a bullpen session Friday before making another rehab start next Monday. Rodriguez should return before the All-Star break as long as he doesn't have any other mini-setbacks.

Wandy Rodriguez (forearm) allowed one run over four innings Sunday in a rehab start at Triple-A Indianapolis. Rodriguez struck out five batters and walked just one, reporting no issues with his left arm. He is expected to return from the 15-day disabled list later this week, which will push Jeanmar Gomez back into a long relief role. Wandy had a 3.59 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 46/12 K/BB ratio through 62 2/3 innings with the Bucs before hitting the disabled list on June 5 with forearm tightness.

Wandy Rodriguez (forearm) is beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis Sunday. Rodriguez was cleared after throwing a couple bullpen sessions with no issues. It's not clear how many rehab starts he'll need, but one might be enough. The left-hander has been out since early June with forearm tightness.

Wandy Rodriguez (forearm) will throw another bullpen session before the Pirates determine whether he's ready to begin a rehab assignment. He should begin a rehab assignment sometime this week as long as the pen session goes off without a hitch. It's not clear how many rehab starts Rodriguez would need, but he seems likely to return before the end of the month.

Pirates placed LHP Wandy Rodriguez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 6, with left forearm tightness. The move clears a spot for Tuesday's starter, Gerrit Cole, on the active roster. Rodriguez was originally expected to avoid the disabled list after he left his last start, but he'll now get some extended rest.

Wandy Rodriguez is expected to avoid the disabled list after tests revealed only inflammation in his left forearm. Rodriguez had to exit his start on Wednesday after feeling some tightness, but it appears he's dodged a bullet. The left-hander will play catch on Friday to test things out. It's not clear if he'll be ready to make his next scheduled start early next week.

Wandy Rodriguez yielded two runs in seven innings Friday in a loss to the Reds. Rodriguez deserved better, as he pitched really well. His only mistakes were solo homers by Jay Bruce and Brandon Phillips. The veteran southpaw fanned five and walked three in the loss and now sits at 6-3 with a 3.47 ERA on the year. He'll have another tough test against the Braves next week.
