Travis Hafner could need season-ending surgery to repair his strained right foot.
Hafner was placed on the disabled list Monday after suffering the foot injury during Sunday's game against the Tigers. If he indeed undergoes the season-ending surgical procedure, it'll be another major blow to the Indians' playoff chances. They're likely to attempt a claim on Twins slugger Jim Thome, but so might other teams.

Indians placed DH Travis Hafner on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right foot.
Hafner suffered the injury during Sunday's game against the Tigers. He has struggled miserably since the All-Star break, anyway, but it will be interesting to see what the Indians do with the DH spot since Grady Sizemore is still likely a couple of weeks away. One possibility would be to make a claim on Twins' DH (and former Indian) Jim Thome.

Travis Hafner (right foot strain) will have an MRI exam on Monday.
Hafner left Sunday's game early with a right foot strain, though he did say he was feeling better after the contest concluded. Hafner said his foot has remained "a little sore" since the initial injury earlier this season and it bothers him most while running. Cleveland will make a decision on if he'll require a DL-stint on Monday.

Travis Hafner left Sunday's game early after coming up lame on an RBI single.
Hafner wasn't pulled until his spot in the order came up two innings later. Though the single snapped a 0-for-16 stretch, we suspect that Hafner's been playing the last few weeks hurt. He has 21 strikeouts in his last 48 at-bats and has clearly been pressing at the plate. We're not sure of the severity of the injury, and we'll bring you an update when we know more.

Travis Hafner sent Indians fans home happy Thursday with a walk-off grand slam to cap off a ninth-inning rally against the Blue Jays.
The Tribe entered the final frame in a 4-0 hole, but an RBI single from Asdrubal Cabrera and Pronk's walk-off blast provided the fireworks. Though he's predictably missed time due to injury, Hafner has been fantastic when healthy, batting .347 with eight homers and 35 RBI over 150 at-bats.

Travis Hafner will not make any starts at first base during the Indians' nine-game swing through National League cities.
Hafner's surgically repaired shoulder simply will not allow him to throw. Although he's likely to pinch in almost every game, he's probably best left on your bench in weekly leagues this upcoming week.

Travis Hafner hit what would prove to be the game-winning two-run homer in the sixth inning of Cleveland's 4-3 win over the Rockies on Wednesday.
He took Jason Hammel deep to right. The bomb was Hafner's second in five games since coming off the disabled list on June 17, and it seems safe to say he is no longer bothered by his oblique injury.

Indians activated DH Travis Hafner from the 15-day disabled list.
Hafner picked up three hits in six at-bats for Triple-A Columbus on a short rehab assignment and, more importantly, appears to be over his oblique issue. He's hitting cleanup against the Pirates Friday and will presumably do the same on Saturday and Sunday, but he'll be relegated to pinch-hitter duty during the team's nine-game road trip to National League parks.

Travis Hafner (oblique) will not play the field at all during the Indians' upcoming nine-game interleague road trip to San Francisco, Arizona and Cincinnati.
Hafner will probably be ready for activation from the DL early next week, but he'll initially be relegated to pinch-hitting duty. He hasn't played a game at first base since 2007. Hafner went 0-5 with a walk during a similar trip last season.
