Ted Lilly (neck) will begin the season on the disabled list. Lilly made it through a bullpen session Friday without any issues, but he simply doesn't have enough time to get stretched out for the start of the season. Dodgers' manager Don Mattingly said the current plan is for him to throw a simulated game in Anaheim on April 2 before making a rehab start with High-A Rancho Cucamonga on April 8. If all goes well, he'll return when the Dodgers need a fifth starter for the first time on April 15.

Ted Lilly (neck) said he didn't feel any pain during a bullpen session Friday. Lilly hadn't thrown at all since March 21 due to neck stiffness. The veteran left-hander admitted that he's "a little behind," so there's still a chance he opens the season on the disabled list. Chris Capuano would likely move up in the rotation if the Dodgers decide to play things safe.

Ted Lilly (neck) is now expected to throw a bullpen session Friday. We originally heard that Lilly would throw on Thursday, but that's apparently not the case. Either way, the Dodgers will determine after Friday's throwing session whether he'll need to start the season on the disabled list. Chris Capuano would move in the rotation if he needs extra time.

Ted Lilly (neck) expects to throw a bullpen session Thursday. Lilly was scratched from Tuesday's scheduled start due to neck stiffness. The veteran southpaw is making progress, but the Dodgers may have to skip his first turn in the starting rotation, at the very least.

Ted Lilly missed workouts Tuesday due to recurring neck stiffness. Lilly reported improvement on Monday, but was scratched from Tuesday's scheduled start. He continues to receive treatment for the issue, including acupuncture. The Dodgers are currently mulling whether to skip the veteran southpaw during the first series of the season and move Chris Capuano up in the rotation.

Ted Lilly reported improvement in his neck Monday, but still won't make his next scheduled start Tuesday. "Today, I feel quite a bit better," said Lilly. "I'm still not to where I'm confident that I'd be able to go out there tomorrow and not regress." The veteran southpaw said he isn't yet concerned about his status for the start of the season, but admitted that his neck feels worse now than when he was forced to leave a start last August. Chris Capuano could move up a spot in the rotation if he only needs to miss a turn, but Nathan Eovaldi would likely replace him if he requires a lengthier absence.

Ted Lilly was forced to skip a scheduled bullpen session Saturday due to recurring neck stiffness. Lilly tossed six innings in a minor league game Wednesday and should remain on track for the start of the regular season. The Dodgers are calling him "day-to-day."

Ted Lilly allowed one hit over three innings and combined with six relievers on a shutout of the Cubs on Sunday. Since he's such a flyball pitcher, Lilly usually has rough springs in Arizona. He was lit up his first time out this month too, but today's performance was better. It helped that he got five groundouts in the game.

Ted Lilly was knocked around by the Giants Tuesday, giving up five runs on six hits and a walk over two innings of work. He struck out one and served up a pair of longballs. It's not the way Lilly wanted to kick off his spring, but it's hardly a concern, especially for a guy that's been around as long as he has. The 36-year-old posted a 3.97 ERA and 158/51 K/BB ratio across 192 2/3 innings last season.
