Souza (wrist) is hoping to return to the Rays' lineup Friday, the Tampa Tribune's R. Mooney reports.
He will do some tests Tuesday to help determine when he will be able to return to the lineup, but it sounds like he can be ruled out until at least Friday's contest. Souza said there is no swelling and he was just experiencing mild wrist pain Tuesday. Brandon Guyer figures to start in right field going forward while Souza is out.

Souza (wrist) remains out of the lineup Tuesday, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
Souza is being held out for the second straight day after injuring his left wrist during Sunday's loss to the Athletics. The team does not believe the injury is serious - it was initially hoped that Souza would be able to go Tuesday - but he could miss another day or two with residual soreness. In Souza's absence, Brandon Guyer will again start in right field, flanked by Kevin Kiermaier in center and Jake Elmore in left.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Souza's wrist is "better than what we hoped for" and he could potentially play Tuesday, Roger Mooney of The Tampa Tribune reports.
Souza sat out Monday's game after suffering a sprained left wrist Sunday, but with a clean MRI and apparently a rapid improvement as far as pain and swelling, he could make his return quite soon. Look for an update on his status Tuesday.

Souza (wrist) is out of the lineup Monday against the Mariners, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Preliminary X-rays on Souza's left wrist, which he injured in the third inning of Sunday's game, were negative but the results of his MRI have not been disclosed. For now, the diagnosis is a left wrist sprain, and Souza is being listed as day-to-day. Brandon Guyer will start in right field Monday with Joey Butler batting second against lefty Roenis Elias.

Souza's (wrist) initial X-rays returned negative, but he was spotted wearing a brace after the game and will undergo an MRI on Monday, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Souza injured his wrist in Sunday's game against the Athletics, and the MRI on Monday should provide clarification on the severity of the issue. The negative X-ray is a positive sign, and if nothing turns up structurally wrong on Monday, he'll likely be day-to-day moving forward.

Souza was removed from Sunday's game against the Athletics during his third-inning at-bat after suffering an apparent wrist injury, Steve Carney of WDAE 620 AM reports.
Souza looked to be in pain after swinging and missing on Sonny Gray's offering, resulting in his removal in the middle of the at-bat. Joey Butler entered the game to pinch-hit for Souza, who will be listed as day-to-day until the Rays offer more information regarding the extent of his injury.

Souza went 1-for-2 with a solo homer, a walk and a steal Friday against the Athletics.
Souza's on pace to easily clear 20 homers and steals, but he's still striking out way too much -- 63 times this year, with 16 just in the last nine games. The 26-year-old rookie's 38 percent strikeout rate is the highest in the major leagues among those who qualify for the batting title. All those whiffs will keep his average down, but Souza does at least draw walks at a reasonable rate -- though Friday's was his first in nine games.

Souza is out of Sunday's lineup against the Twins, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports.
Souza is likely just taking a day off, but Nick Franklin's debut could set off a chain of events that leads to less playing time for Souza. The right fielder has been the most regular starter for the Rays, pushing other players like Brandon Guyer, Kevin Kiermaier, and David Dejesus into intermittent roles in the rest of the outfield and the DH position. With Franklin back and starting, Rays infielders could see more days at DH and lead to an odd-man out situation in the outfield. If Souza continues to struggle, he might see fewer starts in right field and a lower fantasy value.

Souza went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and three strikeouts in Wednesday's victory over the Yankees.
A two-true-outcomes sort of day for Souza, who slightly lifted his batting average to .229, but raised his strikeout total to a whopping 52 in 34 games. Souza's power and speed are enticing, and he's drawing enough walks to think he'll keep running enough to help fantasy owners, but he's clearly a batting-average liability right now with that 37.7 percent strikeout rate.
