The 30-year-old closer successfully converted his third save in four July opportunities, while recording a pair of strikeouts for the third straight appearance. Cishek had allowed at least one earned run in the last three trips to the mound and homers in two of those, so Saturday's scoreless outing was certainly a welcome sight for both the Mariners and his fantasy owners.

Cishek worked around a solo home run by Salvador Perez with a pair of strikeouts to record his 21st save of the season Friday versus the Royals.

Cishek allowed a leadoff double and then hit a batter. After a strikeout, he gave up the game-winner to deep center field. Cishek is tied with four others for the league lead in blown saves, though he has had more opportunities (25) than the others.

The 30-year-old has converted five straight save opportunities, while turning in scoreless efforts in six of his last seven outings.

Cishek picked up his 18th save as he worked around a hit to record a scoreless ninth Tuesday against Pittsburgh.

Cishek had to work for this one, as he needed 22 pitches (16 strikes) to close it out, but in the end he got the three groundouts he needed. He now has six saves in his past seven chances and has given up just one run in a save situation this June.
