Cishek was charged with two runs on two hits in a third of an inning Tuesday at Texas.
EDGE Analysis
The Mariners needed Cishek to get through the seventh and eighth innings before handing the ball to closer Edwin Diaz in the ninth. But Cishek quickly gave up a run after entering in the seventh, and another of his baserunners scored after he left, all of which forced Diaz to go two innings. He ultimately blew the save in the ninth. The Mariners have a handful of hard-throwing relievers. Cishek is no lock to stick in a setup role if he falters again.

Cishek, who was activated off the disabled list Friday, will pitch in a setup role behind closer Edwin Diaz, the Seattle Times
EDGE Analysis
Diaz has excelled as the closer since taking over the job from Cishek. Cishek could get a save opportunity here and there if Diaz needs a night off. Mostly, though, he'll pitch the late innings against right-handed batters, who have hit .153/.224/.265 against him this season.

EDGE Analysis
Cishek is progressing quickly after being diagnosed with a partial tear in the labrum in his hip . He received a cortisone shot a week ago and threw a bullpen session Thursday. He'll throw one more and then likely begin a rehab assignment. "He said it's the best he's felt with the lower half in a long time," manager Scott Servais said. Cishek will pitch in a set-up role for new closer Edwin Diaz when he returns.

Cishek (hip) was placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to August 2 with a torn left labrum.
EDGE Analysis
Cishek blew a save against the Red Sox on Monday and was promptly demoted from the role of closer afterwards. He will now miss time on the disabled list with a hip injury, forcing the Mariners to recall Triple-A pitchers Ariel Miranda and Blake Parker. Edwin Diaz will continue to be the Mariners' closer, with Cishek utilized in a setup role when he returns.

Cishek has been removed as the Mariners' closer in favor of Edwin Diaz, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cishek took the loss Monday one night after blowing a save, and allowed at least one earned run in five of his last 10 outings, so manager Scott Servais decided to relieve him of the ninth-inning duties for the time being and install the young fireballer Diaz as the team's closer.

Cishek (2-6) lost the game for the Mariners on Monday, allowing a Mookie Betts solo homer in a tie game in the top of the ninth before exiting with two thirds of an inning pitched.
EDGE Analysis
This was the second straight disastrous performance for the closer, who blew a save against the Cubs despite entering with a three-run lead in his previous appearance. Cishek can ill afford another slip-up if he wants to hold on to the ninth-inning role.

Cishek blew a three-run lead Sunday for his sixth blown save this season, allowing three runs on three hits, a hit batter and a wild pitch with one strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Cishek, who notched his 25th save a night earlier, imploded with one out. He allowed a double, two singles and a hit batter before getting his next out -- a fielder's choice that scored a run -- and then let the tying run score on a wild pitch. The Mariners eventually lost in extra innings. His six blown saves are tied for most in baseball.

Cishek notched is 25th save in Saturday's 4-1 victory over the Cubs, allowing one hit but also recording three strikeouts over an inning.
EDGE Analysis
The Mariners closer now has converted five consecutive save opportunities and has recorded multiple strikeouts in six of his last seven appearances. With over two full months left to go in the season, Cishek retains a solid chance of equaling or surpassing the career-high 39 saves he tallied with the Marlins in 2014.
