Cishek notched his 19th save in Thursday's 5-3 victory over the Mariners, giving up two hits and no runs over 1.2 innings while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
The Mariners closer induced seven swinging strikes over just 23 offerings, and was able to wiggle out of a dangerous situation in the eighth. He'd been called in to bail out Joaquin Benoit, who'd given up a run-scoring single to Hyun-soo Kim that had cut the Seattle lead to 5-2. Cishek inherited Kim and Adam Jones as baserunners, and after allowing an RBI single to Manny Machado, was able to whiff the dangerous Chris Davis to snuff out the threat, before striking out Leonys Martin and pinch-hitter Franklin Gutierrez to close things out in the ninth with Chris Iannetta on second. The 30-year-old has converted five straight save opportunities, while turning in scoreless efforts in six of his last seven outings.
