Blue Jays activated RHP Sergio Santos from the 15-day disabled list.
No corresponding move has been announced yet, but it's possible that Brett Cecil will be heading to the disabled list. Santos should quickly work his way back into a setup role in front of closer Casey Janssen.

Sergio Santos (forearm) is scheduled to throw one final bullpen session on Sunday, and if all goes well he'll head to Florida for a minor league rehab assignment.
As long as he continues to progress, Santos should be able to rejoin the Blue Jays bullpen in mid-June. With the current state of the bullpen, as long as he pitches well in his return, he could quickly regain his role as the primary setup man in front of closer Casey Janssen.

Sergio Santos (forearm) felt great after throwing a 25-pitch bullpen session on Thursday morning.
Santos will throw another side session on Saturday and could then be cleared for a rehab assignment. He is on track to return to the Blue Jays' bullpen in mid-June. The right-hander has been out since May 11.

Sergio Santos (forearm) hopes to throw two bullpen sessions this week.
Santos is hoping to throw on Friday and possibly again on Sunday before resuming his rehab assignment. The reliever had a setback with his forearm soreness last week but is evidently feeling better. He should return relatively soon as long as he can avoid further setbacks.

Sergio Santos (forearm) recently suffered a setback in his recovery.
Santos had been progressing in his recovery from forearm soreness before he felt something in the forearm while throwing long toss from approximately 120 feet. "I wouldn't call it a big, big setback," Santos said. "When I got out to 110, stepping on it a little bit, didn't hurt, wasn't painful, just backing off for a day, resting and then throwing again. Good enough distance, playing catch, throwing. It felt fine, the ball was coming out good." He'll be shut down for a period of time before beginning to ramp up his throwing again. The setback probably costs Santos another few weeks at least, making late June look like the earliest he might be back.

Sergio Santos (forearm) has thrown for the past three days.
Santos, out since earlier this month with forearm soreness, plans to throw again Monday from a distance of 80 feet. No word when he'll get back on the mound and he'll likely need multiple rehab appearances before coming back from the DL.

Sergio Santos (elbow) will resume throwing on Friday.
He'll need at least a couple bullpen sessions before going out on a rehab assignment. Santos seems likely to return in early June. "It won't be long," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "He's going to start throwing the ball around when we get home. See where he's at. He said he's feeling good, I know that."

An MRI on Sergio Santos' right elbow revealed no structural damage.
The exam showed "normal wear and tear." Santos, who was placed on the disabled list last weekend, will be shut down for a week before resuming throwing on flat ground. "I do feel good," he said. "The soreness is now gone. It's been five-six days and with each day I'm feeling a lot better."

Blue Jays placed RHP Sergio Santos on the 15-day disabled list due to right forearm soreness.
With as bad as Santos has been this season, it's not a surprise that there was some type of injury situation going on here. He owns a 9.00 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and 20/11 K/BB ratio through his first 12 frames on the season.

Sergio Santos has been removed from Toronto's closer role.
Santos blew his third save of 2014 on Friday night, yielding three runs to the Pirates while recording only two outs. Aaron Loup will be used as the fill-in closer on Saturday and has a chance to run with the job until Casey Janssen (oblique) is activated.
