Sergio Santos will have surgery to remove bone chips and spurs from his right elbow. Santos was nearing a rehab assignment in recent days, but apparently he was still dealing with discomfort. The surgery isn't expected to end his season, but it's unlikely he'll make it back until the second half.

Sergio Santos (elbow) threw one inning on Saturday afternoon in an extended spring training game. Santos allowed one hit but no runs. The right-hander is on track to rejoin the Blue Jays bullpen by the end of this month. He has been on the 15-day disabled list since April 14 because of a right triceps strain.

Sergio Santos (elbow) is set to pitch in extended spring training on Thursday and Saturday before starting a rehab assignment early next week with High-A Dunedin. Santos is still experiencing some discomfort in his triceps area, but he feels that the issue is manageable and that he should be able to pitch. While his recovery has taken a bit longer than originally expected, he appears on track to rejoin Toronto's bullpen by the end of the month.

Sergio Santos (elbow) is expected to pitch in an extended spring training game on Thursday. Santos has already thrown three bullpen sessions in Florida and will now test his right elbow against live batters. If everything goes smoothly over these next few weeks, he should be back with the Blue Jays in late May.

Sergio Santos (elbow) has resumed throwing. "Playing catch up to 90 feet, feels great," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said this weekend of Santos. "So he'll obviously progress at some point here to a bullpen [session]. Right now, no setbacks at all." Santos should be ready to return at some point in mid-May.

Sergio Santos was diagnosed with a strain of the flexor pronator muscle following an MRI. Santos was originally placed on the disabled list with what was described as a right triceps strain, but he actually has an elbow injury. Either way, he will be shut down for a week before being re-evaluated.

Blue Jays placed RHP Sergio Santos on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 14, with a right triceps strain. Santos first started experiencing tightness in his triceps during spring training, and he was never quite able to shake it. He pitched well while fighting through the ailment and probably won't need much down time.

Sergio Santos (triceps) is available on Thursday. Santos did not pitch the eighth inning of Wednesday's game because of tenderness in his right triceps muscle. It was never a major concern for the Blue Jays.

Sergio Santos didn't pitch the eighth inning Wednesday due to some tenderness in his right triceps. It's the same injury he dealt with during spring training. Santos contended that he was a little sore Monday but was OK to pitch Wednesday, but the Jays though better of it. He's expected to be available Thursday.

Sergio Santos was tagged for four runs in his inning out of the pen Thursday against the Phillies. Laynce Nix hit a three-run homer off him. Santos already missed out on the closer gig this spring. That's been hit in two of his four appearances since returning from triceps soreness makes us wonder if he'll still get that eighth-inning role initially. The Jays have alternatives in Steve Delabar and Darren Oliver.
