Schimpf hit a three-run home run in a 2-for-5 game Tuesday night against San Francisco.
EDGE Analysis
Schimpf's power this season has been absurd. He now has 19 home runs in 74 games and a .576 SLG despite just a .229 batting average. Schimpf's resulting .347 isolated power tops the major leagues among batters with at least 250 plate appearances, a whopping 39 points better than number two, David Ortiz. He has a 30.4 percent strikeout rate, which probably puts a hard ceiling on his ability to hit for average, but Schimpf looks like he has elite power, especially considering he plays a premium position at second base.

Schimpf went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, four RBI and two runs against the Rockies on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The Padres were home in Petco, but they made like they were in Coors Field in this one, racking up 14 runs. A 28-year-old rookie, Schimpf's delivered strong power numbers this year -- that .600 slugging percentage being particularly eye-popping -- and should continue to start pretty regularly against righties.

Schimpf is out of the lineup Monday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Following a four-game stretch where he'd either homered or tripled in each contest, Schimpf has fallen into a funk at the plate. Over his last five contests, he's gone 1-for-18 with 10 strikeouts. As a result of those struggles, Schimpf will be held out of the lineup for the second time in four days, opening up the keystone for Adam Rosales.

Schimpf is out of the lineup Friday versus the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Schimpf is hitting just .234 for the season, but has gone on a tear over the last week. Across his last seven games, Schimpf went 8-for-22 (.364) with two home runs, three triples, and a double. He'll have the night off while Adam Rosales gets the nod to start at second.

Schimpf went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
His glove was just as important as his bat in this one, as Schimpf was involved in four of the Padres' club-record six double plays during the game. The 28-year-old second baseman is on a tear at the plate though, hitting .636 (7-for-11) over his last four games with four RBI, five runs scored and an eye-popping 1.636 SLG thanks to five extra-base hits (a double, two triples and two home runs).

Schimpf went 2-for-3 with a walk and blasted a solo homer that was the difference over the Marlins on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
That was his second straight game with a homer. Schimpf is 5-for-8 (.625) in his last three games, and he has a modest three-game hitting streak. In the last 10 games, he is batting .313 with four homers.

Schimpf is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Adam Rosales will start at second and hit eighth as Schimpf gets the nigh off. Although Schimpf's batting average is sitting at a disappointing mark of .219, he's brought plenty of power to his inaugural MLB season. Schimpf's 12 home runs and 10 doubles have helped push his slugging percentage to a team-high mark of .550.

Schimpf is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Schimpf had been cooling off since the start of August, but broke back out in a big way Friday, launching two home runs. After going 1-for-4 in Saturday's contest, he'll get the day off Sunday after making 21 straight starts at second base. Adam Rosales will man the keystone in his stead.

Schimpf swatted two homers and drove in a career-high six runs in Friday's 8-6 win over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Despite his smallish 5-foot-9 frame and a limited pedigree as a prospect, Schimpf continues to provide the Padres with surprising power in the heart of the lineup. His first-inning grand slam and third-inning two-run blast now give the rookie 12 long balls in just 173 plate appearances on the season. Among players with at least that many plate appearances, Schimpf ranks fifth in the majors with a .570 slugging percentage, finding himself in the company of luminaries such as David Ortiz, Jose Altuve and Carlos Gonzalez.

Schimpf went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, a walk and a run scored Monday against the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
Schimpf scored the game's opening run in the second inning thanks to the combination of a leadoff double, a Jimmy Nelson wild pitch, and a Derek Norris RBI groundout. He then added an RBI triple to chase Nelson in the fifth before ultimately coming around to score on an Adam Rosales sac fly. The rookie now has 19 extra-base hits in his first 38 games in the majors.
