Schimpf is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Bob Scanlan of Fox Sports San Diego reports.
EDGE Analysis
Schimpf will head to the bench Sunday as the Padres face off against left-handed hurler Jose Quintana and the White Sox. Schimpf continues to scuffle at the plate, sporting a disappointing .161 average through his first 112 at-bats this season. Cory Spangenberg will draw the start at third base Sunday.

Schimpf went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Monday's 5-1 win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
The long ball was Schimpf's ninth of the season and third in the month of May. His all-or-nothing style of play is reflected by his .172 average and 36:21 K:BB. The 28-year-old is useful in deep mixed and NL-only setups for his power stroke, but he's not giving you much else.

Schimpf is not in the lineup Saturday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
After starting the last eight games, Schimpf will head to the bench while Cory Spangenberg draws the start at the hot corner. Despite swatting seven homers so far this year, Schimpf is batting just .148 (13-for-88) with 35 strikeouts, though his 20 walks bring his on-base to .300.

Schimpf went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
The three true outcome hitter checked all boxes Tuesday, hitting his seventh homer of the season, walking and striking out twice. Schimpf continues to be a drag on batting average (.156), but his recent power surge has brought his home run total up to seven on the year, making him a viable deep-league infielder.

Schimpf went 1-for-3 with his fifth home run of the season in Thursday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
The slugging second baseman has now homered in back-to-back games after it appeared that he was losing time to the recently-recalled Cory Spangenberg. With two consecutive starts -- accompanied by two homers -- it appears Schimpf has extended his stay as the Padres' starter at third against righties. His .125 batting average makes him an unappealing option in shallower formats, but deep-league owners who are starving for power may want to consider the 29-year-old as a middle infielder, with hopes that he gets his batting average back over the Mendoza line at some point this season.

Schimpf went 1-for-2 with a go-ahead three-run home run in the ninth inning in Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
The power-hitting infielder launched a 439-foot shot shot off Fernando Rodney with two aboard in the ninth, giving San Diego a 6-5 lead. It was the 29-year-old's first long ball since April 16 and helped him snap a nightmarish 1-for-26 slump that had encompassed his previous seven games. Schimpf may be due for some good fortune after posting an unsustainable .094 BABIP in his first 78 plate appearances, and his walk rate is encouragingly up to 19.7 percent thus far this season.

Schimpf is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Schimpf will head to the bench for the second straight game as Cory Spangenberg starts in his place again at the hot corner. Given his struggles to start the season (.102/.276/.254 with 25 strikeouts in 59 at-bats), he could start losing playing time to Spangenberg.

Schimpf is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Schimpf has been struggling mightily at the plate to start the season, slashing just .102/.276/.254 with 25 strikeouts in 59 at-bats, so he'll head to the bench as the recently recalled Cory Spangenberg takes over at the hot corner. If he doesn't pick it up in the near future, he could start to lose at-bats to Spangenberg.

Schimpf went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Monday's 7-6 loss to the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
How bad can it get for Schimpf? He now has 25 strikeouts in 59 at-bats and an equally bad .102 average. On the bright side, he has worked 15 walks to help his on-base percentage despite the rough start to the season. Schimpf's 20 home runs in just 89 games last year made him attractive power option eligible at both second and third base, but his low floor is rearing its ugly head. It'll be hard to stomach his one-dimensional profile in shallow leagues.

Schimpf is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Schimpf has struggled to find his footing at the plate to begin the 2017 season, hitting just .109 over his first 55 at-bats. The good news is that he's drawn a walk in nearly 20 percent of his plate appearances, which has boosted his on-base percentage to .292. Luis Sardinas will draw the start at third base in his absence.
