Schimpf went 3-for-5 with a homer, a run and two RBI Sunday at the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Schimpf's ninth blast of 2016 tied the game at six in the eighth inning of a road victory. He's now homered in back-to-back games, and he slashing .250/.368/.648 in 93 at-bats on the year.

Schimpf went 1-for-3 with a first-inning two-run homer and a walk in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
The impressive rookie accounted for all of the offense on the day against a dominant Max Scherzer, taking him deep with a 415-foot shot in the first that plated Yangervis Solarte. Schimpf now has three homers in the last five contests, and has all eight of his round-trippers in July. He's tallied 14 RBI as well, but has also struck out 21 times in 54 at-bats. However, even a modest improvement in his contact rate would take the young slugger to the next level at the plate.

Schimpf is out of the lineup Wednesday for Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
He got the start in Game 1 and went 1-for-4 with his sixth home run of the season. So far he has offered impressive power at the keystone, but it's hard to envision him improving his .219 average by much over the rest of the season, given his career .249 average in the minors. Adam Rosales will get the start at second base and hit seventh in the nightcap.

Schimpf is out of the lineup for Friday's matchup with San Francisco.
EDGE Analysis
Schimpf will sit the first game after the All-Star break as Adam Rosales gets the nod at second base and bats sixth. Schimpf has struggled since his call up on June 14, slashing .183/.306/.467 through 60 at-bats.

Schimpf is not in the lineup Friday against the Dodgers, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.
EDGE Analysis
He will turn second base over to Adam Rosales after starting seven straight games to begin July. Schimpf has provided useful pop from the keystone, totaling four homers in 47 at-bats against right-handers after hitting 15 home runs in 51 games with Triple-A El Paso to begin the campaign. However, the Padres have been mindful not to overexpose him to left-handed pitching and his chances against lefties will likely remain limited.

Schimpf hit a solo homer as part of a 2-for-4 game in Tuesday's loss to Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
After a dreadfully slow start, Schimpf has a hot streak brewing over the past two games. He is 4-for-8 with two doubles and a homer to open this week's series against the Diamondbacks. While he's still hitting just .196, the power he has shown thus far is intriguing, and with Adam Rosales as the other main second base option in San Diego, that should be enough to keep Schimpf in the lineup.

Schimpf is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
He had excellent numbers in the Pacific Coast League, but the 28-year-old journeyman has predictably struggled thus far against big league pitching, slashing .107/.297/.179 in 37 plate appearances. Yangervis Solarte will start at second base and hit cleanup Wednesday.

Schimpf will return to the lineup and start at second base Sunday against the Reds, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Reds starting left-handed pitchers in each of the first three games of the series, Schimpf was confined to the bench in favor of Adam Rosales. The duo continues to work in a platoon at second base, but since most of the league's starters are right-handed, Schmipf figures to see the bulk of the starts due to his left-handedness. He'll slot in at sixth in the Padres' lineup Sunday.

Schimpf is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Schimpf has played in all eight games since being called up on June 14, mixing it up between second and third base. Over that span, he is 3-for-21 at the plate with two doubles and one RBI. For Thursday's contest, the Padres will start Yangervis Solarte at third and Adam Rosales at second.

Schimpf is out of the lineup Sunday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Schimpf has found his way into the starting lineup for five straight games, but will take a seat Sunday with Yangervis Solarte (thumb) back in action. The infielder is 2-for-15 at this dish since getting the call June 14, but his future playing time may be limited if Solarte is at or near full strength.
