The Twins bullpen needs reinforcements after Adalberto Mejia lasted just 3.2 innings in Monday's loss. Pressly was terrible in the first two months of the season, as he allowed a 9.50 ERA and 1.61 WHIP and was done in by five home runs. Still, he gives the Twins a veteran arm in that bullpen, and more importantly, a fresh one.

Pressly is in a major funk recently, as the 28-year-old has allowed seven runs on four hits (two home runs) while recording just one out over his last two appearances. He also walked two and struck out none over that time; he had a 23:7 K:BB through 18 innings prior. He'll head back to Rochester to work out some kinks, and if Pressly is able to reduce his contact rate there, he should see another shot with the big club this season. The Twins are expected to announce a roster move ahead of Thursday's series opener against the Angels.

Pressley's April struggles have continued into May as his ERA rose to 9.31. He does have a 11:3 K:BB, 10.2 K/9 and an average fastball velocity of 95.8 MPH (which would be a career high), so there are signs he can turn his season around.

Pressly has struggled in April as he's given up three home runs in 6.2 innings. He does have six strikeouts and just one walk, so he can improve if he keeps the ball in the park. However, he's not going to compete for saves any time soon given his struggles and closer Brandon Kintzler's strong April.

Pressly gave up a two-run home run and three hits in an inning to take the loss in Sunday's defeat to the White Sox. Despite giving up two home runs in his last two outings, manager Paul Molitor expressed confidence in Pressly. "It's definitely a fluke. He's got some of the nastiest stuff on our staff," Molitor said.

With Glen Perkins likely to begin the season on the DL and no timetable set for his return, Brandon Kintzler should begin the season as Minnesota's closer. However, it sounds like Pressly has been impressive enough this spring that he could figure into the mix if Kintzler stumbles.

Pressly and the Twins avoided arbitration with a $1.175 million deal on Friday, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports.
