Pressly's MRI on Sunday revealed that the pitcher is suffering from a strained right lat muscle, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. The Twins will determine Monday whether or not Pressly will require a stint on the disabled list to recover from the injury. He's been a useful cog in middle relief for the Twins this season, producing a 2.93 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 22:12 K:BB ratio over 27.2 innings.

Pressly underwent an MRI on his strained right shoulder Sunday morning, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports. Pressly left Saturday's game against the Royals with the injury, and the Twins are still trying to assess the severity of the ailment. Once the results of the MRI become available, the team should have a better handle on the situation.

Pressly was able to get one inning of work in before exiting the mound, giving up just one hit and also striking out another. He should be considered day-to-day for the time being until the Twins release the results of his medical tests.

Pressly got the win Saturday, pitching a perfect seventh inning and striking out one. He's become a bit of a vulture since getting called up at the beginning of May, picking up two victories in 12 appearances (13 innings). If Pressly can keep falling into wins he'll have some value, but otherwise he's a standard-issue fungible middle reliever.

Pressly was recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Friday, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports. Pressly will take the roster spot of Tim Stauffer, who was placed on the 15-day DL with a right intercostal strain. Pressly owns a 5.4 K/9 over 105 career major-league innings, so he'll likely see most of his work in medium-to-low leverage situations.

Pressly was optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Pressly gave up allowing four runs on 10 hits in 4.1 innings with three walks and four strikeouts this spring. Pressly had a 2.98 ERA and 9.4 K/9 at Triple-A lsat season, but just a 4.5 K/9 in the majors last year. He'll likely be among the first relievers called up if there's an opening in the major league bullpen.

Pressly gave up a run and two hits in one inning in Thursday's loss to Detroit to increase his ERA to 2.63. While Pressly has been productive as a middle reliever since his recall from Triple-A in July, his peripheral numbers don't back up his low ERA. He has just a 4.6 K/9 IP and a 4.52 FIP. Still, he's likely cemented his job as a middle reliever in next year's bullpen.
