Ryan Pressly

Ryan Pressly allowed a run over two mopup innings in Saturday's 12-5 loss against the Red Sox. The Twins plucked Pressly from the Red Sox with the fourth pick in last winter's Rule 5 Draft. He posted a 5.38 ERA in 103 2/3 innings last season between High- and Double-A, but has been a pleasant low-leverage surprise for the Twins thus far, logging a 1.83 ERA and 1.42 WHIP over 19 2/3 innings. His peripherals aren't good -- including a 13/10 K/BB rate -- and his ERA won't end anywhere close to where it is now, but owners in extremely deep AL-only leagues may want to take a look if they need an injury replacement in the 'pen.

Rule 5 pick Ryan Pressly has all but locked up a spot in the Twins' Opening Day bullpen. Pressly posted a 5.38 ERA in 103 2/3 innings last season between High- and Double-A, but he's impressed the Twins with a 0.82 ERA and 0.82 WHIP over eight spring appearances. ''We like him. We like him a lot,'' manager Ron Gardenhire said. ''He's throwing the ball well. Good angle, nice little breaking ball, good velocity.'' Gardy added that Pressly wouldn't be babied just because he has only 14 appearances above A-ball. ''We think he can pitch now.'' Gardenhire said. ''Not for the future.''
