Red Sox optioned OF Ryan Kalish to Triple-A Pawtucket. Kalish was hitting .232/.254/.268 through 17 games with the Red Sox and was expendable with Ryan Sweeney returning to man center field. He's best served by playing everyday at Triple-A where he'll continue to serve as outfield depth for the Sox.

Ryan Kalish (shoulder) will continue his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Pawtucket. Kalish is currently working his way back from surgery for a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The 24-year-old went 6-for-21 (.286) with a homer and a double in six rehab games between High-A Salem and Double-A Portland. The Red Sox could eventually activate him and option him to Triple-A, but he could help the injury-riddled outfield before long.

Ryan Kalish (shoulder) will continue his minor league rehab assignment with Double-A Portland. Kalish is currently working his way back from surgery for a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The 24-year-old went 4-for-12 (.333) with a homer and a stolen base over his first three rehab games with High-A Salem. He'll likely be optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket once he's back to full health, but given the multitude of injuries in the Red Sox outfield, he could contribute at the big league level this summer.

Ryan Kalish (shoulder) is ready to begin playing in extended spring training games in Fort Myers. Kalish is currently working his way back from surgery last November to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. If all goes well, it's possible he'll be ready to join a minor league affiliate in mid-June. Given all the injuries in the Red Sox outfield, he could be a factor during the second half of the season.

Ryan Kalish (shoulder) has begun playing long-toss and taking regular live batting practice. Kalish, who was placed on the 60-day disabled list in early-April, is working out at the Red Sox' extended spring trianing complex in Florida. "He's coming along and he's hitting on a field," GM Ben Cherington said Thursday. "So we'll let him do that for a little while and get him some live BP and then get him into game action down there." There's no timetable for his return to the majors.
