Tejada (elbow) was placed on the paternity list Thursday as his girlfriend gave birth to a baby girl.
Tejada's spot was taken by Dilson Herrera, who was activated off the disabled list. Tejada will be out 3-7 days and likely will play third base when he returns with Herrera sliding in at second.

Tejada and Daniel Murphy will switch positions until David Wright (back) returns, making Tejada the Mets' regular second baseman, Mike Puma of the NY Post reports.
Tejada has already made seven appearances (five starts) at the keystone this season, and he'll likely reach double-digits soon enough. He's also made eight appearances apiece at third base and shortstop, after strictly working as a shortstop from 2012 to 2014.

Tejada went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored Monday against the Padres.
He played third base again and batted second, continuing a recent hot streak that's seen Tejada rack up eight hits in the last four games, including doubles in three straight. With his lack of both power and speed, not to mention his career .254 batting average, Tejada can't be counted on to keep this up, but he's in line to enjoy regular action at third for the time being.

Tejada got another start at third base Saturday, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.
That's back to back two-hit games for Tejada, who's staking a modest claim to regular at-bats at the hot corner. His .245/.344/.377 slash line on the season isn't great, but it's better than any of the Mets' other current options right now.

Tejada will bat second for the Mets Friday against the Marlins.
Tejada hasn't seen action on a consistent basis, but the club has decided to bat him second Friday. It's unclear if Tejada will overtake Eric Campbell for playing time moving forward, but batting second would be a big boost if that indeed becomes the case.

Tejada, who started a key eight-inning double-play while starting at shortstop Saturday, will start at second base Sunday, the Record reports.
Tejada started three of the past five games at shortstop while Wilmer Flores has struggled both offensively and defensively. He has impressed manager Terry Collins with his improved work ethic and gets the nod at second Sunday to give Dilson Herrera a game off.

Tejada is starting at shortstop for a second straight day Sunday against the Nationals, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
Tejada is in for Wilmer Flores, who is being given a few days to get mentally right, as he has struggled in the field, which has also carried over to the plate. If Tejada can provide steady defense and an occasional foray at the plate, he could earn a bit more playing time moving forward.

Tejada is in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
Tejada is 5-for-5 against Marilns starter David Phelps in his career, so manager Terry Collins decided to give him the start Tuesday with Phelps on the mound for the Marlins. Tejada will man the shortstop position and hit sixth in Tuesday's batting order.

Tejada is starting at shortstop Sunday, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports.
The move is a bit of a surprise. The Mets have an off-day Monday while Wilmer Flores, sitting for Tejada, has two home runs his past three games, including one Saturday. But manager Terry Collins has elected to give Tejada the start at shortstop.

Tejada went 0-for-3 Thursday and is now 7-for-28 this spring.
Tejada is still slated to open the year as Wilmer Flores' back up. Matt Reynolds has opened eyes this spring, but as of now, he is likely to start 2015 at Triple-A Las Vegas. That leaves Tejada as the main back up at shortstop and he could see the occasional game at second base.
