Roy Oswalt gave up five runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings in Wednesday's loss to the Red Sox.

Oswalt struck out five and for the most part pitched well after a rough first inning, but by then it was too late. The veteran righty has a 7.36 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in his first two starts for the Rockies, but he boasts a 16/1 K/BB ratio and his velocity has been fine. His start start will come at home against the Dodgers.

Roy Oswalt struck out 11 in his Rockies debut Thursday, but he took a loss after giving up four runs in five innings.

Despite all of the strikeouts, the Nationals got to Oswalt for nine hits, one of them a solo homer. It was still a good sign that Oswalt was throwing strikes and missing bats. He'll have a tough assignment against the Red Sox in Fenway next time out.

Oswalt will make his Rockies debut on Thursday night at Nationals Park. The veteran righty had a cool 2.16 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 25/7 K/BB ratio in 33 1/3 innings at the Double-A level and is worth a look in mixed leagues.

Roy Oswalt is officially scheduled to make his Rockies debut Thursday in D.C. against the Nationals.

Oswalt signed a minor league contract with Colorado on May 2 and has registered a stellar 2.16 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 25/7 K/BB ratio across 33 1/3 innings since reporting to Double-A Tulsa. The veteran right-hander is worth a try in most standard mixed fantasy leagues, though keep in mind that he struggled last year with the Rangers.
