Roy Oswalt will likely make one more minor league start before joining the Rockies' rotation. Oswalt has a 2.88 ERA and 18/6 K/BB ratio in 25 innings across his first four starts with Double-A Tulsa. The veteran right-hander was sitting at 92 mph on his fastball during his most recent outing on Sunday and topped out at 95 mph. He's expected to start again on Friday before joining the big club next week. Pitching in Colorado isn't easy, but go ahead and stash him in deeper formats.

Roy Oswalt allowed three runs while striking out five over seven frames in a rehab start for Double-A Tulsa on Tuesday. He permitted seven hits and didn't walk a batter. Oswalt told the Tulsa World that the performance was "as good as the last outing," when he tossed six innings of one-run ball. The Rockies haven't revealed a specific plan for the veteran righty, but he could need just one more minor league start before joining the big league rotation.

Roy Oswalt struggled in his rehab start for Double-A Tulsa on Friday, surrendering three runs on four hits over his five innings of work. Oswalt walked three and struck out three in the game. He threw 44 of his 72 pitches for strikes in the game, but did serve up a pair of home runs. He's expected to need another three minor league starts before he's ready to join the Rockies rotation. He could be worth a flyer in deeper mixed leagues.

Roy Oswalt struck out nine while allowing only a bunt single over five innings in an extended spring training start on Saturday. With the impressive performance, Oswalt will now be moved up to Double-A Tulsa for his next outing. He's expected to make 4-5 starts for Tulsa before the Rockies decide whether or not to call him up. It would be a surprise if he's not in their rotation next month.

If Roy Oswalt's extended spring training start on Saturday goes well, his next outing will come at Double-A Tulsa. Oswalt threw 64 pitches in an extended spring game Tuesday and reportedly showed better command than he did in his first start. The veteran righty has been sitting in the low-90s with his fastball. As long as things progress on schedule, he should join the Rockies' rotation late this month or early June.

Roy Oswalt threw three innings in an extended spring training game on Friday, displaying decent velocity in the process. He allowed four runs (one earned) on five hits in the outing, while striking out a pair. He's slated to make one or two more starts in extended spring games before being assigned to Double-A Tulsa.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Roy Oswalt will make a pro-rated portion of $2.3 million if the Rockies add him to the major league roster. Oswalt would also receive a $400,000 bonus if he is added to the roster. The veteran right-hander could make more with incentives, including $1.35 million for 18 starts and $1.25 million for 110 innings pitched. His contract has out-clauses on June 18 and June 28.

Roy Oswalt is expected to make 2-3 starts at extended spring training before likely being assigned to Double-A Tulsa. According to Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post, Oswalt "has been throwing for several weeks, including intense bullpen sessions." Because he's not starting from scratch like in a normal spring training, Oswalt shouldn't need too much time to get ready. He seems likely to be added to the Rockies' rotation by late May or early June.

Rockies signed RHP Roy Oswalt to a minor league contract. In fantasy terms, it's obviously not a good landing spot for Oswalt. It certainly makes sense from the Rockies' perspective, though, as they need all the help they can get in the rotation. Oswalt will report to extended spring training first before being assigned to a minor league affiliate. The veteran right-hander has been staying in shape near his home in Mississippi, so it shouldn't take him too long to build up the necessary stamina. The Rockies haven't guaranteed him anything, but as long as Oswalt doesn't look totally lost, he should be added to the big club's rotation before long. He posted a 5.80 ERA in 17 appearances last season with the Rangers but had a nice 59/11 K/BB ratio over 59 frames.

Roy Oswalt wrote on his Twitter account on Monday that he would "love to come back to Philly." The tweets came at an interesting time, as his former teammate Roy Halladay had just labored through his start Monday night against the Mets. The 35-year-old right-hander posted a 5.80 ERA in 17 appearances with the Rangers last season, but said Monday that he's feeling better than at any point since 2010.
