The Pirates are expected to non-tender Ross Ohlendorf. Ohlendorf missed a majority of the 2011 season because of a shoulder injury and posted a hideous 8.15 ERA in the eight starts that he was healthy enough to make. The 29-year-old won't be much of a free agent prize.

Coming off his first win in a year, Ross Ohlendorf was pounded for seven runs in two-plus innings by the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. He gave up three runs in the first and was pulled after allowing all four batters he faced in the third to reach. The three men he left on all came around to score as part of a five-run frame. Ohlendorf is now sporting an 8.29 ERA in eight starts, and he looks like a prime candidate to be non-tendered this winter.

Ross Ohlendorf pitched seven innings of two-run ball and hit a three-run homer Thursday to beat the Dodgers for his first win of the year. The horribly unlucky Ohlendorf took matters into his own hands in this one, hitting his first career homer to win for the second time in 33 starts dating back to 2009. Despite a 4.07 ERA, Ohlendorf went 1-11 in 21 starts last year. He was 0-2 with an 8.03 ERA in six starts this season. A terrible hitter even as far as pitchers go, he hadn't driven in a single run in 100 at-bats prior to taking Dana Eveland deep tonight.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said that while Ross Ohlendorf will make his next start, he's no lock to remain in the rotation for the rest of the season. Ohlendorf holds an 8.44 ERA and 2.36 WHIP on the year and will need better results if he wants to stick among the starting five. "This isn't just carte blanche, you're going to get four or five more starts," Hurdle said. "We've got to see improvement. And he understands that."

Ross Ohlendorf got lit up by the Marlins on Friday, allowing six runs on 10 hits in just two innings of a Pirates loss. Ohlendorf has now been lousy in all four of his starts since rejoining the Bucs rotation on August 23, posting an 8.44 ERA, 2.36 WHIP and 11/5 K/BB ratio in 16 innings. He's almost certainly pitching his way out of the Pirates' 2012 plans.

Ross Ohlendorf was charged with three runs over four-plus innings against the Cubs on Saturday afternoon. He gave up seven hits while walking two, striking out two and hitting two batters. Ohlendorf was pulled with the bases loaded and nobody out in the bottom of the fifth inning. He now has a 5.78 ERA over three starts since returning from the minors and has yet to complete seven innings. Fantasy owners are advised to look elsewhere down the stretch.

Ross Ohlendorf was solid over five innings Monday, allowing just two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six in a loss to the Astros. It was surprising to see manager Clint Hurdle remove Ohlendorf after the big right-hander had thrown just 73 pitches and was in line for the win. It proved to be the wrong decision, as Jason Grilli, Jose Veras and Tony Watson proceeded to give up five runs over the next three innings. Despite tonight's solid effort, Ohlendorf can't be trusted this weekend in Chicago.

Ross Ohlendorf became the Brewers' latest victim on Tuesday, allowing seven runs (four earned) on 11 hits in five innings of a Pirates loss. He struck out three and walked two. Now 1-2 with a 7.24 ERA, 2.12 WHIP and 9/7 K/BB ratio in 13 2/3 innings since coming off the disabled list, Ohlendorf is looking like he can be safely ignored in NL-only leagues.

Ross Ohlendorf won't be brought up until Tuesday. Ohlendorf was originally scheduled to start one half of Monday's doubleheader against the Brewers, but the Pirates have pushed that outing back to Tuesday night. The 29-year-old right-hander hasn't pitched in the major leagues since early April due to a shoulder strain.
