Pirates activated RHP Ross Ohlendorf from the 60-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis. The Bucs simply had no room on their 25-man roster for Ohlendorf, who has been sidelined since April 9 with a strained right shoulder. If he's not recalled sooner, he'll certainly be amongst the Pirates' call-ups when rosters are expanded in September.

Pirates general manager Neal Huntington said that a decision about Ross Ohlendorf (shoulder) will likely be made closer to Sunday. Sunday is Ohlendorf's scheduled day to pitch, leading to speculation that he could start against the Brewers. For what it's worth, Sunday's starter is listed as TBA right now. Ohlendorf, 29, has been sidelined since early April with a shoulder injury. He has a 3.63 ERA and 7/7 K/BB ratio in 17 1/3 innings over three rehab starts with Triple-A Indianapolis.

Ross Ohlendorf (shoulder) could possibly be activated from the disabled list to start for the Pirates on Sunday. Ohlendorf recently finished his rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis, giving up four runs on eight hits and a walk over 6 1/3 innings Tuesday. The Pirats currently have Sunday's starter listed as TBD, and the right-hander would obviously be lined up for that outing. He's been sidelined since early April with a shoulder issue.

Ross Ohlendorf (shoulder) will make one more rehab start for Triple-A Indianapolis before the Pirates decide what to do with him. Ohlendorf holds a 3.42 ERA over five rehab starts to this point and appears to be totally over his shoulder ailment. But, the Pirates simply don't know what role he will fill. It's possible he'll remain at Triple-A to provide starting depth, or he could be promoted and serve as a long man out of the bullpen. It's unlikely he'll join the rotation.

The Pirates remain unsure of when Ross Ohlendorf (shoulder) will rejoin the club. Ohlendorf has made five minor-league rehab appearances, but the Bucs have no place to put him on their 25-man roster. Whenever he's finally summoned back to the big leagues, he'll pitch out of the bullpen.

Ross Ohlendorf (shoulder) is expected to make another minor league rehab start with Triple-A Indianapolis. Ohlendorf has been on the disabled list since the second week of the season with a right shoulder strain. He allowed one run over three innings in his most recent rehab outing last Friday. Assuming all goes well with his next outing, he could be activated from the disabled list. The Pirates haven't said whether he will return as a starter or a reliever, though it's a pretty good bet he's bullpen-bound.

Ross Ohlendorf (shoulder) "felt really good" after throwing a 50-pitch bullpen session Tuesday. Ohlendorf has a 4.26 ERA and 9/2 K/BB ratio over three rehab starts between High-A Bradenton and Double-A Altoona. He appears ready for activation from the DL, but the Pirates don't have room in their rotation right now. They're expected to announced their future plans for the righty within the next 24 hours.

Ross Ohlendorf (shoulder) will make his next minor league rehab start Sunday with Double-A Altoona. Ohlendorf allowed four runs in eight innings over his first two rehab starts with High-A Bradenton. There isn't a sense of urgency to bring him back with the Pirates' rotation pitching so well, so he'll likely make at least a couple more starts in the minors.

Ross Ohlendorf (shoulder) began a rehab assignment with High-A Bradenton Thursday, tossing four shutout innings while allowing just two hits, no walks and striking out three. Not bad. Ohlendorf will need a few more rehab starts before he'll be available to rejoin the Pirates, though he's no given to slide back into the rotation with the current starting five throwing well.
