Ross Ohlendorf (shoulder) threw a three-inning simulated game Monday in Bradenton, Florida. Ohlendorf will continue performing similar workouts at the Pirates' spring training complex until he is cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment. The rehabbing right-hander should be ready to rock by the end of July.

Ross Ohlendorf (shoulder) has begun throwing simulated games at the Pirates' spring training complex. Ohlendorf was transferred to the 60-day disabled list at the end of May and probably won't be ready to return to the major leagues until late July. "We ideally want to get him almost 60, 65, maybe even 70, 75 pitches before we start the clock in a rehab [assignment]," said Pirates GM Neal Huntington. "We're being ultra-conservative with Ross, but everything's going along fine."
