Goldschmidt is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Goldschmidt will sit for just the second time all season. He's been in a slump lately, hitting .167/.239/.214 over his last 11 games. Matt Carpenter will slide over to first base in his absence, with Yairo Munoz entering the lineup at third.

Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a double -- only his third extra-base hit in the last 22 games -- in a loss to the Cardinals on Sunday,
EDGE Analysis
The lack of impactful hits for the normally prodigious veteran is curious to say the least, considering that Goldschmidt has generated a 23.2 percent line-drive rate and 50.0 percent hard-contact rate over that span of 90 plate appearances. What's more, he owns an elevated .352 BABIP during that 22-game stretch, so he hasn't exactly been on the wrong side of luck when putting wood on the ball. Nevertheless, through 63 games in his first Cardinals campaign, the prized offseason acquisition has a modest 17 extra-base hits overall (five doubles, 12 home runs), well off the pace of the 73 apiece he laced over his final two seasons with the Diamondbacks.

Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Cubs on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Goldschmidt appears to be taking well to his new No. 3 spot in the order, as he's now 5-for-12 over his first three games since the lineup switch. Goldschmidt had actually already started flashing a hotter bat a few games prior, and he's now hitting .395 (15-for-38) with two homers, three RBI, two walks and five runs over his last 10 contests overall.

Goldschmidt, who went 2-for-4 in a win over the Phillies on Thursday, operated out of the No. 3 spot in the lineup for the first time this season, Paul Casella of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Mike Shildt opted to flip-flop Goldschmidt and usual No. 3 hitter Paul DeJong in the order for the series finale in an attempt to find an offensive spark. Shildt was also looking to set Goldschmidt up with more RBI opportunities, considering he'd entered Thursday having logged only 43 plate appearances with runners in scoring position all season. Although those didn't immediately present themselves Thursday, Goldschmidt could continue seeing time in the No. 3 slot that he logged 724 starts in during his eight seasons with the Diamondbacks.

Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Tuesday against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Goldschmidt took Nick Pivetta deep in the first inning to record his 11th home run of the season. It was both his first homer and extra-base hit since May 12. While he's still hitting a respectable .268 and getting on-base at a strong .359 clip, his current .449 slugging percentage is nearly 80 points lower than his mark in 2018.

Goldschmidt went 3-for-3 with an RBI single and a run in a win over the Braves on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Golschmidt is enjoying a much more productive May than his lackluster April, as he's hitting a rock-solid .284 in the current month. The veteran has reached safely in six straight as well, and he's now compiled an impressive seven multi-hit efforts since the calendar flipped.

Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run Sunday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Goldschmidt smacked a two-run blast to left field in the first inning, cutting the Cardinals' early deficit to one run. The 31-year-old has pieced together a modest three-game hitting streak, raising his batting average over 25 points during that brief stretch.

Goldschmidt went 3-for-5 in a loss to the Pirates on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Goldschmidt accomplished the relatively unlikely feat of generating a second consecutive 3-for-5 performance, a two-game surge that's already served to raise his season average an impressive 23 points to .263. The veteran's mini-breakout was a long time coming, as Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports Goldschmidt's second-inning run-scoring single Thursday snapped a run of 60 straight plate appearances without an RBI and his ground-rule double later in that contest ended a 13-game stretch without an extra-base hit. Part of the slugger's problems this season have stemmed in a drop in solid contact, as Langosch also relays that prior to Thursday, his barrel rate (13.0 percent), average exit velocity (89.4 mph) and hard-contact rate (38.9 percent) were all down as compared to 2018.

Goldschmidt went 3-for-5 with a double, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's rout of the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Goldschmidt was a key contributor in the Cardinals' offensive barrage that produced 16 hits and 17 runs. Much like last season, the talented first baseman has gotten off to a slow start at the plate but has still managed to knock nine homers and drive in 21 runs on the year. Of course, Goldschmidt's second-half surge and subsequent sixth-place finish in NL MVP voting in 2018 bodes well for his outlook going forward this season.

Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Goldschmidt will be one of four Cardinals regulars resting on getaway day, with Yadier Molina, Paul DeJong and Dexter Fowler (illness) joining him on the bench. Matt Carpenter will move across the diamond to cover first base in place of Goldschmidt, who has produced only one extra-base hit (a double) and one RBI over his last eight starts.
