Sandoval (3-3) allowed three runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three over 4.2 innings, taking the loss versus the Twins on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval has failed to complete five innings in three of his nine starts this season, and each time has been because he's issued too many free passes. This was the first time in his last three outings he'd issued multiple walks. The southpaw has a 3.47 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP and 34:20 K:BB over 49.1 innings this season. Sandoval will look to rein in his control next weekend versus the Marlins.

Sandoval (3-2) took the loss Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk over 7.2 innings in a 4-3 loss against the Guardians. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval was sharp Sunday, allowing just an unearned run through his first seven innings before Josh Naylor smacked a go-ahead, three-run homer off Carlos Estevez in the bottom of the eighth, handing Sandoval the loss. Still, the 26-year-old left-hander has gotten off to a solid start in May, going 1-1 with a 3.32 ERA in his last three outings (19 innings). Sandoval now sports a 3.22 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP and 31:16 K:BB through 44.2 innings this season.

Sandoval did not factor in the decision against Houston on Monday, allowing four runs on seven hits and no walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out two batters.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval had a rough third inning, allowing four straight two-out hits that resulted in three Houston runs. The southpaw bounced back from there, allowing just one more run and two more hits the rest of the way. Sandoval struck out only two batters -- the third time this season he's fanned that few in a start -- but didn't walk anybody and completed six innings for the third time on the campaign. His 26:15 K:BB across 37 innings isn't very attractive, but he's given up just three homers and has a tolerable 3.41 ERA overall.

Sandoval (3-1) got the win over the Cardinals on Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and three walks while striking out four over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval retired 13 of the first 14 hitters he faced, but he eventually ran into a little trouble in the fifth. The Cardinals singled twice, and Tyler O'Neill wound up crossing the plate on a ground out from Andrew Knizner for their only run of the evening. Outside of an April 20 outing against the Yankees, Sandoval has allowed two runs or fewer in all of his other starts, although he has only tossed more than five innings twice and his 1.6 K/BB is currently on track to be the worst mark of his career. The 26-year-old will carry a 2.93 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 24:15 K:BB into his next projected start against the Astros next week.

Sandoval (2-1) earned the win over Oakland on Wednesday, pitching seven innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out five batters.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval allowed a run in each of the first, third and fifth frames, but the Angels' offense exploded for nine runs while he was in the contest to take most of the stress off him. The southpaw struck out a modest five batters but racked up an impressive 18 swings-and-misses while refusing to issue any walks. Sandoval's outing was a nice bounce-back from his previous start, when he gave up a season-worst five runs over four frames against the Yankees.

Sandoval (1-1) took the loss against the Yankees on Thursday, allowing five runs on four hits and six walks while striking out five batters over four innings.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval was in trouble from the get-go, allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base. The southpaw ended up being tagged for five runs in the first frame, and the damage was partly due to poor control, as he issued three walks. To Sandoval's credit, he was able to give the Angels three more innings and didn't allow any additional runs despite not having his best stuff, but the first-inning damage proved too much to overcome. Altogether, he issued six free passes, tying a career-high mark and matching the total he had given up in his first three starts combined. This was also Sandoval's first outing this season allowing more than one earned run. As a result, his ERA jumped from 1.23 to 3.38.

Sandoval did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing two unearned runs on three hits and three walks over 3.2 innings in a 5-3 loss against the Red Sox. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval's six strikeouts were a season high, but he couldn't get through the fourth, as his pitch count climbed to 90 after walking his third batter of the game with two outs. Both of the runs on his ledger were unearned due to errors from Luis Rengifo and Anthony Rendon, so his ERA dropped to 1.23 through three starts. Sandoval's next start is tentatively scheduled during next week's four-game set versus Oakland.

Sandoval did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing one run on six hits and one walk over six innings against Toronto. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
It was far from a dominant effort for Sandoval with just the two strikes, but he deserved better than a no-decision Friday. The southpaw's only run allowed came in the fourth on a fielder's choice off the bat of Santiago Espinal. Unfortunately for Sandoval, the Angels were unable to hold the lead with Bo Bichette hitting a go-ahead three-run homer in the seventh. In two starts, the 26-year-old has registered a 1.64 ERA with a 4:3 K:BB ratio in 11 innings.

Sandoval (1-0) earned the win over Oakland on Saturday, pitching five innings and allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out two batters.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels staked Sandoval to an 11-0 lead with a huge top of the third inning, so the left-hander didn't face much stress in his season debut. The only run against Sandoval came on a Ramon Laureano solo shot in the fifth frame, and the hurler departed after that inning having thrown 86 pitches (56 for strikes). His overall performance wasn't dominant by any means -- he struck out only two batters -- but it was nonetheless a successful debut for Sandoval, who will likely face a tougher challenge his next time out, as he's tentatively scheduled to face off against the Blue Jays next week.

Sandoval tossed 79 pitches in a minor-league game Sunday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval spent time this spring pitching for Mexico in the World Baseball Classic, notably holding eventual champions Japan scoreless over 4.1 innings in a semifinal matchup. The southpaw appears to be pretty well ramped up for the regular season, as he followed his 79-pitch outing Sunday by doing some additional throwing in the bullpen. Sandoval is tentatively slated to start the Angels' second game of the campaign, April 1 in Oakland.
