Sandoval will start the second game of Thursday's doubleheader at Detroit, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval had been scheduled to pitch Wednesday, but the game was postponed due to inclement weather around Comerica Park. Shohei Ohtani is being moved up to pitch the opener of Thursday's twin bill and then Sandoval will handle the nightcap.

Sandoval and the Angels won't face the Tigers on Wednesday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
The two teams will make up the postponed game as part of a straight doubleheader Thursday. Expect Sandoval to start one of those games, while Chase Silseth likely takes the hill for the other.

Sandoval (5-7) allowed a run on two hits and three walks while striking out seven over 7.1 innings, earning the win Tuesday over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval's control issues popped up again, but he was able to counter it by allowing little dangerous contact. The only run against him was Gleyber Torres' solo home run in the third inning. Sandoval gave up 12 runs (11 earned) over 15 innings across his last three starts before the All-Star break. He's now at a 4.16 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 77:39 K:BB through 93 innings over 17 starts this season. The southpaw is projected to make his next start on the road in Detroit.

Sandoval logged a no-decision against San Diego on Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and four walks while striking out five batters over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
The positive for Sandoval was that he allowed just a pair of singles and one earned run (though a first-inning unearned run was the result of his own error). However, the left-hander struggled with his control, throwing just 48 of 85 pitches for a strike and walking four batters. It was the sixth time over his past eight outings that he's issued multiple free passes, and he's given up four walks three times during that span. Not coincidentally, Sandoval has struggled during that stretch, posting a 5.71 ERA and a 1-5 record. Sandoval's 3.8 BB/9 on the season is on track to be his highest since his rookie campaign in 2019.

Sandoval (4-7) took the loss Thursday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks over 5 innings against the White Sox. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Most of the damage against Sandoval came in the third inning, where he allowed six runs on six hits. The 26-year-old left-hander has struggled lately, pitching to a 7.46 ERA through five starts in June. Overall, Sandoval now sports a 4.69 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP and 65:32 K:BB in 15 starts (80.2 innings) this season. Sandoval will look to get back on track in his next outing, currently lined up for next week in San Diego.

Sandoval gave up three runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out three over five-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Given the traffic on the bases, this could have been a far worse start at Coors Field for Sandoval. It's the second time in his last three outings that he's given up at least 10 hits, but leadoff home run he allowed to Jurickson Profar in the first inning was just the sixth long ball Sandoval's surrendered this year. He continues to effectively limit damage with a 4.16 ERA despite a 1.47 WHIP and 57:30 K:BB over 75.2 innings through 14 starts. The southpaw is projected for a home start versus the White Sox next week.

Sandoval (4-6) earned the win over Kansas City on Friday, allowing four hits and four walks while striking out six batters over seven scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval had been going through a rough patch coming into the outing, allowing 11 earned runs over 8.1 innings across his previous two starts. The lackluster Royals offense provided a remedy, as Sandoval allowed just four hits -- all of which were singles -- and snapped a streak of five straight losses. The left-hander still struggled somewhat with his control, tossing only 59 of 102 pitches for a strike and walking four, but the wildness didn't come back to bite him. Sandoval is tentatively lined up to make his next start against the Rockies in Colorado.

Sandoval (3-6) took the loss Saturday versus the Mariners, surrendering five runs on 10 hits while striking out eight and walking none over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
This was the third time in 12 starts that he hasn't walked a batter, and the eight strikeouts were a season high, but that's where the good news ends. He's given up 11 runs over his last 8.1 innings, and while struggling in Houston isn't too surprising, Sandoval's work against the Mariners wasn't great. The southpaw now has a 4.52 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 48:25 K:BB through 63.2 innings this season. He's lined up for a favorable road start in Kansas City next week.

Sandoval (3-5) took the loss against Houston on Saturday, allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out four batters over 3.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval gave up a run in each of the first and third frames before enduring a rough fourth. He began that inning by striking out Jake Meyers before the Astros tagged him for four straight singles. That resulted in Sandoval getting the hook, and he was charged with three runs after his departure when Jacob Webb surrendered an Alex Bregman grand slam. This was Sandoval's fourth straight loss and his shortest outing of the campaign, while the six runs were the most he has given up in an appearance this season. The southpaw was a popular preseason fantasy sleeper, but he's been inconsistent so far, posting a 4.14 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 40:25 K:BB over 58.2 innings.

Sandoval (3-4) took the loss Sunday versus the Marlins, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out two over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Sandoval was able to complete six frames for the fifth time in 10 starts, but a lack of run support sent him to his third straight loss. This was his fourth quality start of the season and the second to come in a loss. Sandoval now has a 3.42 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 36:22 K:BB through 55.1 innings. He hasn't struck out more than five batters in any of his last seven appearances. His next start is expected to be a challenging road matchup with the Astros.
