Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) will make his first minor league rehab start with High-A Jupiter on Saturday. Eovaldi will be limited to between 60 and 70 pitches in the game. He's been sidelined since the end of spring training with inflammation in his right shoulder. He'll need a few rehab starts to get fully stretched out, but could join the Marlins rotation in early June if all goes well.

Marlins manager Mike Redmond said Thursday that Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) has been progressing with his long-toss program. It's not clear when Eovaldi will be ready to throw from a mound, but he's moving in the right direction. The right-hander looks to be a little behind Henderson Alvarez, who should be ready to rejoin the Marlins' rotation in mid-May.

Marlins transferred RHP Nathan Eovaldi from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. Eovaldi developed a shoulder issue near the end of spring training. There's no exact timetable for his return.

Marlins placed RHP Nathan Eovaldi on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder injury. That came out of nowhere. Eovaldi had a pretty nice spring and was slated to open the season as the club's No. 2 starter, but evidently his pitching shoulder is bothering him. The Marlins are hoping he will be sidelined no more than a month. Henderson Alvarez is also out with a shoulder ailment, and the Marlins will use Jose Fernandez and Alex Sanabia as their replacements in the rotation.

Nathan Eovaldi notched a rare spring training complete game as the Marlins beat the Twins 6-2 in five innings Monday. The game was delayed and then called due to rain. Eovaldi allowed five hits, walked two and struck out three in improving to 3-0 this spring. We don't recommend getting too excited about him as a fantasy starter.

Nathan Eovaldi held the Braves to one run while striking out four over five innings Wednesday. He surrendered just three hits -- one of them being a Freddie Freeman homer -- and didn't walk anyone. Eovaldi holds a 3.29 ERA this spring and has struck out 11 over 13 2/3 frames. He should have some NL-only value this season.

Nathan Eovaldi pitched a pair of hitless innings and struck out three in the Marlins' 5-1 win over the Nationals on Wednesday. Eovaldi was 3-7 with a 4.43 ERA in 12 starts after joining the Marlins in last summer's Hanley Ramirez trade with the Dodgers, but his rotation spot seems assured this spring. He'd make more sense as a reserve pick in NL-only leagues than as a $1-$2 guy.

Nathan Eovaldi notched a quality start but still lost Sunday, allowing three runs over six frames against the Phillies. Eovaldi pitched well, giving up six hits while walking one and striking out seven, but he simply wasn't as good as Cole Hamels. Nevertheless, Eovaldi closed out the year in an encouraging way, posting a 3.88 ERA over his final 10 starts. He has a good chance to break camp next spring as a member of the rotation.

Nathan Eovaldi delivered a strong outing in a no-decision against the Braves on Tuesday night, allowing just two runs on four hits over his six innings of work. Eovaldi racked up a career-high eight strikeouts and walked only two. It's the second consecutive dominant effort for the young right-hander, who looks to be coming into his own in the Marlins' rotation. He'll look to finish the season on a high note when he takes on the Phillies at home on Sunday.

Nathan Eovaldi delivered an outstanding performance in a no-decision against the Braves on Tuesday, scattering four hits over eight shutout innings. Eovaldi racked up five strikeouts. All five of the hits he allowed were singles, and no Braves batter advanced past second base against him. He handed a 3-0 lead over to Steve Cishek and the Marlins bullpen, but they were unable to hold on. Eovaldi will look to build on this strong outing when he does battle against these same Braves in Atlanta on Wednesday.
