Both runs against Mikolas on Friday came via sacrifice flys. It was a strong bounceback after he was tagged with six runs by the Reds in his last outing. Mikolas lowered his season ERA to 2.86, including a 3.58 ERA in six July appearances. He'll carry a 100:26 K:BB into his projected home start against the Cubs next week.

All six runs against Mikolas came in the third and fourth innings. He allowed singles to three of the first four batters and, following a sacrifice fly, Joey Votto tagged him for a three-run, two-out blast in the third. He's now given up six homers in his last 30.2 innings. His next start will likely be next weekend in Washington.

Jonathan India tagged Mikolas for a leadoff homer to begin the game, but that would end up being the only blemish on Mikolas' line. With three consecutive quality starts to close the first half, Mikolas now sits with a 2.54 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 92:23 K:BB over 120.1 innings this season. An All-Star in 2018, Mikolas did not quite make the cut in 2022.

Mikolas (6-7) picked up the win in Monday's 6-1 victory over the Phillies, allowing one run on six hits over 7.1 innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.

The right-hander served up a solo shot to Rhys Hoskins in the first inning but was in full control after that, tossing an efficient 99 pitches (62 strikes) before exiting. Mikolas (5-7) took the loss to Atlanta on Wednesday, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out four and walking one over six innings.

Mikolas pitched well in Wednesday's game, throwing 59 of 92 pitches for strikes while picking up four strikeouts and allowing just one walk in the game. He did not get any offensive support though, and he picked up the loss, his seventh of the year. Mikolas did earn a quality start in the outing, his 11th this season. The righty will take a 2.72 ERA into his next outing.

Mikolas (5-6) took the loss Friday as the Cardinals were downed 5-3 by the Phillies, giving up four runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out one.

Most of the damage off Mikolas came in the fifth inning after a Nolan Arenado error sparked a rally for Philadelphia. The right-hander saw his quality start streak end at four, but Mikolas still sports an impressive 2.61 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 79:21 K:BB through 100 innings on the year.

He is tentatively scheduled to make his next start Friday at Philadelphia.

The right-hander allowed his unearned run in the fourth inning after Bryan Reynolds got aboard on a Juan Yepez error, but the only hit off Mikolas didn't come until there were two outs in the ninth inning, as Cal Mitchell ripped a ground-rule double on Mikolas' 129th and final pitch. Mikolas had to settle for his second straight quality start and eighth of the year in 13 starts, and he'll take a 2.62 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 66:16 K:BB through 82.1 innings into his next outing.

EDGE Analysis

Mikolas allowed both of his earned runs on a home run by Ji-Man Choi in the fourth inning, which stuck him with the tough-luck loss. The strong effort was needed for Mikolas, as he entered the game having allowed 10 earned runs across his last 10.2 frames. Even so, Mikolas still owns a 2.93 ERA with a 60:15 K:BB across 73.2 innings on the campaign.
