Mikolas (5-4) picked up the win in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Pirates, giving up one unearned run on one hit and one walk over 8.2 innings. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander allowed his unearned run in the fourth inning after Bryan Reynolds got aboard on a Juan Yepez error, but the only hit off Mikolas didn't come until there were two outs in the ninth inning, as Cal Mitchell ripped a ground-rule double on Mikolas' 129th and final pitch. Mikolas had to settle for his second straight quality start and eighth of the year in 13 starts, and he'll take a 2.62 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 66:16 K:BB through 82.1 innings into his next outing.

Mikolas (4-4) allowed two earned runs on three hits with nine strikeouts and no walks across eight innings to take the loss Thursday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Mikolas allowed both of his earned runs on a home run by Ji-Man Choi in the fourth inning, which stuck him with the tough-luck loss. The strong effort was needed for Mikolas, as he entered the game having allowed 10 earned runs across his last 10.2 frames. Even so, Mikolas still owns a 2.93 ERA with a 60:15 K:BB across 73.2 innings on the campaign.

Mikolas (4-3) allowed four runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out four in five innings, earning the win over the Cubs on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Mikolas wasn't at his best, but the Cardinals' lively offense propped him up well. He's allowed 16 runs (15 earned) over his last 23.1 innings in four starts after starting the year without allowing more than two runs in any of his first seven outings. Overall, he's at a 3.02 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 51:15 K:BB across 65.2 innings. Mikolas is projected for a road start versus the Rays next week.

EDGE Analysis
Mikolas allowed two home runs, a three-run blast by Jace Peterson in the fifth inning and a solo shot to Rowdy Tellez in the sixth. This was just the second time in 10 starts Mikolas has given up multiple long balls. Sunday was the worst start of what's otherwise been an encouraging year for the 33-year-old right-hander. He has a 2.67 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 47:12 K:BB in 60.2 innings. He's projected to make a road start against the Cubs next week.

The right-hander battled Jose Berrios to a 1-1 draw through six innings before each pitcher ran into trouble in the seventh, setting the stage for some 10th-inning heroics by Paul Goldschmidt. Mikolas (3-2) took the loss in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander didn't pitch badly and pounded the strike zone as per usual, but the Cardinals didn't score their only run of the game until the eighth inning, hanging Mikolas out to dry. He tossed 106 pitches (84 strikes) in his fifth quality start of the season, and he'll carry a stellar 1.68 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 36:9 K:BB through 48.1 innings into his next outing.

Mikolas will draw the start in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Mets, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
After Monday's game got postponed, Mikolas will be on the mound for the front end of the Cardinals' doubleheader Tuesday. The right-hander has been elite this season, posting a 1.49 ERA and 0.94 WHIP over 42.1 innings in seven starts.

Mikolas and the Cardinals won't play Monday against the Mets after the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mikolas was slated to serve as the starting pitcher during Monday's series opener, but he'll have to wait at least one more day to take the mound. The Cardinals haven't yet announced their updated pitching plans, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Mikolas take the mound in one of the two games during Tuesday's doubleheader.

Mikolas (3-1) earned the win over Baltimore on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out three over seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
St. Louis built a seven-run lead by the end of the fourth inning, allowing Mikolas to go get into cruise control and pitch with little stress. The right-hander completed seven innings for the third time in his past four starts and yielded only one run for his second straight outing. Mikolas hasn't given up more than two earned runs in any of his seven appearances this season, leading to a sparkling 1.49 ERA through 42.1 frames. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which is expected to come on the road against the Mets early next week.
