Boyd (1-1) grabbed the win against the Indians on Wednesday by allowing one run on four hits over six innings. He had six strikeouts and issued two walks.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd was unable to reach double-digit strikeouts as he did during his first two starts, but still pitch well for his first win of the year. The 28-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic start to the season with a 2.60 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 29:6 K:BB over 17.1 innings. Boyd lines up to start against the Pirates next Tuesday.

Boyd struck out a career-high 13 batters Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and three walks over 6.1 innings, but he didn't factor into the decision in a 2-1 win over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
All of a sudden, the southpaw is putting up numbers like he's Randy Johnson in his prime, fanning 23 batters through his first 11.1 innings on the season. Boyd managed an 8.4 K/9 over 170.1 frames in 2018, so to say this pace is unsustainable would be a massive understatement, but it's hard to ignore the way he's come out of the gate. With a couple of off days looming for the Tigers, he won't take the mound again until next Wednesday, at home against Cleveland.

Boyd (0-1) was saddled with the loss Friday against Toronto after surrendering three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out 10 over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd had the strikeout pitch working in his season debut, but the Blue Jays finally got to him in the fourth inning and pushed across four runs on four hits and an error. The 28-year-old lefty allowed a career-worst 27 long balls in 2018 over 170.1 innings, so he'll work on keeping the ball in the yard this year.

Boyd is slated to start the second game of the season for the Tigers, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Tigers recently confirmed Jordan ZImmermann will start the season opener in Toronto and Boyd will follow in the second game Friday. The lefty led the team in starts, quality starts, wins and strikeouts in 2018, and while he doesn't project as the most exciting fantasy option, he should at least have a pretty firm grip on his rotation spot.

Boyd covered 4.2 innings in Tuesday's 3-1 exhibition loss to the Pirates, surrendering three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd tossed 92 pitches in what will likely be his final Grapefruit League outing ahead of a potential Opening Day assignment March 28 in Toronto. With Michael Fulmer (elbow) opting for season-ending Tommy John surgery, Boyd enters the upcoming campaign as the clear top starter in a beleaguered Detroit rotation and looks poised to build on what was a promising if unspectacular 2018 campaign. Per Chris McCosky of The Detroit News, Boyd's fastball has been sitting around 91-to-93 miles per hour this spring, a decent uptick from the 90 mph he averaged in 2018. The spike in velocity may at least partially explain why Boyd has racked up 20 strikeouts in 18 innings during the exhibition slate.

Boyd allowed two earned runs on three hits while retiring four batters in his Grapefruit League debut Tuesday. He struck out two and walked one.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd was limited to just 15 pitches in his first action of the spring. The lefty ended up being the ace of a subpar Detroit staff last season, leading the team in starts, quality starts, wins and strikeouts. Without a ton of great pitchers around him, Boyd figures to remain a stalwart in the rotation this year, though the 28-year-old isn't the most exciting option in fantasy leagues.

Boyd has shed 15 pounds of fat this offseason as he changed his diet and workout routine, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd had a solid season in 2018 with a 4.39 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 159:51 K:BB over 170.1 innings and reached a $2.6 million deal with the Tigers earlier in January to avoid arbitration. The left-hander -- who turns 28 in early February -- should begin the season as Detroit's top arm in the starting rotation, and it should be interesting to see what impact his leaner frame has on his production, if any.

Boyd signed a one-year, $2.6 million contract with the Tigers on Friday, Robert Murray of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd had a solid year with a 4.39 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 159:51 K:BB over 170.1 innings. The 27-year-old lefty was the Tigers' top starter in 2018 and is likely cemented into the rotation for 2019 with the team lacking quality starting depth.

Boyd allowed five runs (two earned) on six hits across 1.1 innings Thursday but escaped with a no-decision in an 11-8 win over the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd wasn't very good in this one, but Kansas City starter Jorge Lopez was worse, as he allowed seven runs in his inning of work. The lefty entered the night with a solid 3.75 ERA and 0.94 WHIP since the beginning of August, so perhaps this was just a hiccup and he'll be able to rebound in his next (and likely last) start of the season, which is scheduled for Wednesday against the Twins on the road.

Boyd did not factor into the decision in Friday's 5-4 win over the Indians, as he allowed two runs on three hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd kept Cleveland off the board through five innings and was in line for the win before he allowed back-to-back home runs to Edwin Encarnacion and Josh Donaldson with one out in the sixth to tie the game at 2-2. Despite sputtering at the end, it was still a solid outing for Boyd, and the lefty has now allowed just three earned runs with 18 strikeouts over his last two starts (12.1 innings). He'll look to keep it rolling his next time out Wednesday against the Twins.
