Boyd gave up two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings during Tuesday's 13-inning loss to the Phillies. He struck out eight and did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd served up a 434-foot, two-run homer to Roman Quinn during the second inning, but that's all the Phillies were able to muster off the southpaw. The 28-year-old surrendered at least four runs in each of his past six starts, so Tuesday's outing was a welcome sight. Boyd will carry a 4.07 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 168:26 K:BB into Sunday's start at Seattle.

Boyd (6-8) allowed five runs on six hits with no walks across six innings to take the loss Thursday against Cleveland. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd threw 68 percent of his pitches for strikes as he notched a healthy strikeout total, but a pair of two-run home runs accounted for a significant chunk of the damage done against him. He otherwise pitched quite well, limiting baserunners to good effect. Boyd has struggled of late, allowing at least four earned runs in each of his last six starts while going deeper than six innings just twice in that span. He'll look to get back on track next week at home against the Phillies.

Boyd (5-5) was charged with the loss after lasting just four innings against the Royals on Thursday. He surrendered six hits on five runs (four earned) and two walks while striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd handed the Royals the lead with a solo shot to Nicky Lopez in the second. He then allowed Martin Maldonado to score on a balk. It took Boyd 51 pitches to get through the first two innings, which proved to haunt him soon enough. In the fourth frame, the southpaw gave up a two-run double to Whit Merrifield, who scored on a throwing error by Niko Goodrum. The outing was Boyd's shortest since a May 14 loss to the Astros. On the bright side, the 28-year-old ace has fanned at least seven batters for the sixth straight game, further improving his impressive 112:17 K:BB ratio to go with a 3.35 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. Boyd will look to bounce back with a favorable matchup in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

Boyd allowed three runs on five hits with nine strikeouts and zero walks across five innings during a no-decision against the Braves on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander needed the Tigers offense to stage a late comeback in order to avoid a loss, but Boyd posted at least seven strikeouts and no more than one walk for the four straight start. His 6.5 K/BB, which is in the top three in the American League, is a major reason why Boyd is experiencing a breakout season. Boyd is 5-4 with a 3.01 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 97 strikeouts in 77.2 innings this season. Last year, Boyd had a 4.39 ERA with a 3.1 K/BB. He's expected to make his next start at home versus the Twins on Saturday.
