Harvey said in The Players Tribune that he will pitch in the playoffs despite the doctor imposed 180-innings limit, stating "Once we are there, I will be there."
EDGE Analysis
"I am communicating with my agent, my doctor, Sandy and the entire Mets organization. I can assure everyone that we're all on the same page. Together, we are coming up with a plan to reach an innings limit during the season. It will be a compromise between the doctors and the Mets organization to get me, and the team, to where we need to be for our postseason run." That compromise could mean just 1-2 more regular starts, after which he will likely be at 180, since he sits at 166.1 innings now.

The Mets and Harvey's agent Scott Boras are debating a 180-inning limit for the young pitcher, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The decision will ultimately come down to Sandy Alderson and the Mets front office, who say that the limit is a soft limit. Meanwhile, Boras is pushing that the doctor-recommended 180-inning limit should not be surpassed. The Mets have already skipped one of Harvey's starts and could skip another, which means they are at least making an effort to limit his workload. This obviously harkens back to the 2012 Stephen Strasburg controversy, with a star pitcher and Boras client facing an innings limit as his team attempts to finish out a surprise division win. That one went Boras' way, but the Nationals had long conceded they would abide by the limit and shut Strasburg down. If the Mets are still saying it's a soft limit for Harvey, it's probably more likely Harvey keeps pitching into the playoffs.

Harvey did not travel with the team to Miami, but the Mets said he "should be fine" to make his scheduled start Tuesday against the Nationals, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports.
EDGE Analysis
He could easily join the team in time to make his scheduled start Tuesday, and since he was dealing with dehydration this week, it makes sense that Harvey was not feeling up to the trip Wednesday night. That said, he should not be considered a lock to make that start Tuesday, as the Mets have already said his turn in the rotation will be skipped at least one more time this season.

Harvey was dehydrated and weak during his start Wednesday against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Harvey was still ill after the game and it has yet to be decided if he will initially travel with the team to Miami. As of now, he is still scheduled to make his next scheduled start, which is Tuesday in Washington.

Harvey (12-7) worked 6.1 innings in Wednesday's win over the Phillies, giving up four runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out nine.
EDGE Analysis
Granted a 6-0 lead, Harvey didn't exactly go into cruise control, as he gave up a three-spot in the fifth and then a solo homer in the seventh before leaving the game. He came into this game having given up just one run in his last four starts, so this was a step back for Harvey, but he nonetheless continued to show the sharp control and bat-missing ability that he's been displaying since the end of July. The Mets will continue to manage Harvey's innings, but Terry Collins did let him throw 101 pitches Wednesday.

Harvey will have another start skipped sometime in September, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports.
EDGE Analysis
He will make his scheduled start Tuesday against the Nationals, but at any point after that the Mets could opt to skip him so as to keep him as fresh as possible for the postseason. Doctors have advised the Mets not to let Harvey exceed 180 innings this season, and he currently sits at 160. It will be hard for them to keep him under 180, assuming they make it to the postseason, but if they have a commanding lead in the final weeks of the season, Harvey could theoretically be skipped a more than one more time before the end of the regular season.

Harvey was sharp Friday night, allowing two hits, walking one, and striking out eight over six shutout innings, but was left with a no-decision against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Harvey (11-7, 2.48 ERA) has been spectacular in August, allowing just one run in five starts covering 27 innings. However, he was making his first start in 12 days as the Mets try to keep his innings in check. Harvey is in his first season back from Tommy John surgery so they will likely conserve his arm as much as possible in September while obviously continuing to focus on the post season.

New York Mets starting pitcher Matt Harvey could have his next turn in the rotation this weekend in Colorado skipped, according to ESPN New York. There is no injury reported for Harvey, but the Mets are planning to limit the innings of several of their young starting pitchers as the regular season winds down. "There's a chance we're going to have to do that," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "They will be OK to pitch that last weekend of the season and beyond. They will be ready to do that." New York has built a 4.5-game lead on the second-place Washington Nationals in the National League East, which could afford them a bit more leeway in terms of resting their starters. Steven Matz is expected to return from injury soon, at which point the team could return to the six-man rotation they used earlier this season. Harvey has been excellent overall, with 11 wins and a 2.57 ERA through 154 innings.

Harvey allowed two runs on five walks while walking four and striking out seven in seven innings to get the win in the Mets' 4-2 victory over the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Harvey helped his own cause, blasting a two-run home run in the fifth inning to give the Mets a 3-2 lead they never relinquished. The victory made him 8-6 with 3.07 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 109:27 K:BB ratio in 111.1 innings heading into the All-Star Break.

Harvey allowed just one run on five hits and two walks over six innings Saturday, striking out three. He'd just been replaced by Carlos Torres in the top of the seventh when the game was suspended due to rain with the score tied 1-1, so Harvey will be stuck with a no-decision regardless of what happens when the contest is concluded. The Mets' six-man rotation will push his next start to Saturday, in a potentially classic matchup against Zack Greinke at Chavez Ravine.
