Matt Harrison held the Mariners to three runs on three hits and two walks in six innings Friday, improving to 14-9 in Texas' 5-3 victory.
He struck out one in his third quality start in four September outings. Although the Rangers have all but sewn up their second consecutive American League West title, Harrison should still take the mound in their regular-season finale against the Angels on Wednesday.

Matt Harrison outdueled Felix Hernandez Sunday, tossing 6 2/3 shutout innings on six hits and two walks while striking out nine in a 3-0 win over the Mariners.
The nine punchouts are his high-water mark for the season. The Rangers decided to give Harrison some rest after he was blasted for seven runs back on August 24, and he's responded by posting a 2.41 ERA in his three starts since. Now 13-9 with a 3.42 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, he'll try to keep it going next weekend in a rematch with the Mariners.

The Rangers will skip Matt Harrison's scheduled Tuesday start.
Harrison will remain in the majors and will be available all week out of the Texas bullpen. The Rangers are trying to limit the innings totals of some of their young starters. Harrison will return to the rotation next Sunday against the Red Sox.

The Rangers could use Monday's off day to juggle their rotation in order to give some pitchers extra rest.
Matt Harrison and Alexi Ogando would figure to be the primary beneficiaries of the extra rest, as they've both hit a wall recently. Harrison has thrown 153 innings this season, which is easily the most he's had since 2008, when he logged 167 2/3 frames. Ogando started just three games in his pro career before tossing 151 1/3 innings this season. "It's certainly something we've talked about," manager Ron Washington said. "We haven't decided who or what yet. We're talking about a lot of things. We just haven't come up with a plan yet. It may stay the way we've always done it."

Matt Harrison wasn't able to make it through five innings Friday, allowing four runs - three earned -- on four hits and three walks over 4 1/3 innings in a 7-4 win over the White Sox.
Harrison has now permitted four or more runs in four of his last six outings and holds a 5.16 ERA for the month of August. We're not ready to totally write him and his 3.28 ERA and 1.28 WHIP off, but Harrison has been pitching a little over his head for a while now. He has a tough matchup next week against the Red Sox.

Matt Harrison yielded six runs -- four earned -- over 5 1/3 innings as part of a no-decision in Oakland Sunday.
Harrison struck out six, walked three and gave up six hits. Considering he was throwing in pitcher-friendly Oakland, it's a surprise. Harrison had given up two earned runs or less in eight of his previous 11 starts. We'd still consider him a decent fantasy play in Chicago next week.
