Carpenter went 2-for-3 Saturday with a walk and a two-run shot, his 21st home run of the season.
EDGE Analysis
His next home run will double his previous career high. Carpenter has sold out his batting average for additional power this year, but thanks to a still-strong walk rate, his .828 OPS remains right in line with his usual output.

Carpenter went 2-for-5 Saturday with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.
EDGE Analysis
He could be heating back up again, going 5-for-17 (.294) over his last four games with two doubles, three RBI and four runs. Carpenter sold out his swing to hit for more power this year, as his career-high 19 home runs have been accompanied by an elevated strikeout rate, so don't expect a big batting average surge from him down the stretch despite his track record.

Carpenter went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored in a 5-3 win over Arizona on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Carpenter has been ice cold as of late and it's been a hot-and-cold season for the Cardinals third baseman. Over his last 32 at-bats, Carpenter has just three hits and his average has dropped nearly 40 points in that span to .235. It's been all downhill since the first month of the season it's tough to trust him at this point of the season.

Carpenter will likely get the start at second base in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports. Kolten Wong (head) was lifted from the first game Tuesday with a head contusion, and manager Mike Matheny said Carpenter will "probably" get the start at second base Tuesday night in Wong's place. A lineup should be available in the near future.

Carpenter is not in the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs. Carpenter will be held out of the lineup for the first time this month, allowing Mark Reynolds to start at third base while Xavier Scruggs starts at first. Carpenter should have a chance to break out of his slump in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Carpenter is back in the lineup Wednesday against the White Sox. After a scheduled day off Tuesday with Chris Sale on the mound, Carpenter will be back in action Wednesday against Jose Quintana. Carpenter will bat second in the order, but he has struggled against lefty starters this season with a .163 batting average and 13 strikeouts.

Carpenter is not in the lineup Tuesday against the White Sox. It looks like a scheduled day off for Carpenter, who had started the last five games after missing one game last week with a tight back. Mark Reynolds will get the start at third base and bat cleanup against Chris Sale.

Carptenter (back) is back in the lineup Wednesday against the Marlins. Carpenter was held out of Tuesday's lineup with tightness in his back, but it looks to be nothing serious, as he's back at his usual third base spot. Carpenter will hit second against Marlins starter Mat Latos.

Carpenter is dealing with a tight back, which is why he was held out of Tuesday's lineup, the Associated Press reports. He was available off the bench, but it's worth noting that this was not just a day off for Carpenter. Mark Reynolds and Pete Kozma both saw time at third base Tuesday in his absence. Consider Carpenter day-to-day moving forward.

Carpenter is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game in Miami. Carpenter dealt with a minor triceps issue earlier in the month, but he has still started every game in June. In his absence Tuesday, Mark Reynolds will get the nod at third base, allowing Xavier Scruggs to start at first base.
