Cain (forearm) threw all his pitches in a bullpen session Friday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Cain had been limited to throwing only fastballs in his previous bullpen sessions, but was cleared to begin incorporating his breaking balls Friday. With the right-hander reporting no issues, there's a chance he could pitch to live hitters as soon as Tuesday, but nothing's set in stone.

Cain (forearm) completed another bullpen session Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
The bullpen once again consisted of only fastballs, but Cain is now set to begin incorporating breaking balls in his next flat-ground session. That will mark an important step in Cain's recovery from a strained flexor tendon, but he will then have to start throwing breaking pitches off a mound before being cleared to face live hitters.

Cain threw a bullpen session Tuesday for the first time since undergoing elbow surgery, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Cain threw 20 pitches in his bullpen session, marking the first time he's thrown off a mound since going on the disabled list last season. He's expected to throw 3-to-4 more bullpen sessions before facing live batters. His next bullpen session is slated for Friday.

The Giants relayed Sunday that Cain (forearm) is likely three weeks away from pitching in an extended spring training game, Jim Bowden of ESPN reports.
The news for Cain only seems to have gotten progressively worse since he was first diagnosed with forearm tightness in early April. He's since resumed playing catch over the last two weeks, but the timetable for pitching in a competitive environment that the Giants outlined Sunday suggests a return shouldn't be viewed as forthcoming. It wouldn't be a surprise if Cain's injury sidelined him until mid-June, or perhaps even longer.

Cain (forearm) will play catch Tuesday but he is still many weeks from returning to the mound, the San Francisco Chronicle's Henry Schulman reports.
Cain was throwing a medicine ball and said his arm felt much better on Friday. He is not expected to return to the Giants' rotation until late-May/early-June, but is worth stashing in leagues with deep benches or DL spots.

Cain (forearm) is still at least a week away from throwing, so there's no timetable yet for his return, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Suffice to say, this will not be a minimal stay on the 15-day DL, even without accounting for the Giants back-dating the move to April 3. Chris Heston's spot in the rotation remains secure.

Cain (forearm) is at least a week away from playing catch, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
The three-time All-Star remains shut down from throwing due to a flexor tendon strain, and it's beginning to look like he won't make it back before the end of the season's first month. Once Cain is cleared to throw, he will have to gradually increase the distance of his long toss before eventually progressing to bullpen sessions and ultimately a rehab assignment.

Cain (forearm) was placed on the 15-day DL on Thursday, retroactive to Apr. 3, Andrew Baggarly of the Mercury News reports.
This was expected after an MRI revealed that Cain has a strained flexor tendon, but the Giants officially made the move Tuesday and tabbed Chris Heston as their starter for Wednesday. A return for Cain on his earliest possible activation date (Apr. 18) is unlikely, with the right-hander expected to need a couple weeks at least to recover.

The MRI results revealed that Cain (forearm) suffered a strained flexor and will likely be placed on the disabled list, CSN Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic reports.
Cain seems to have dodged a bullet as forearm tightness usually is the result of a UCL tear. Still, this isn't the start to the bounce back season Cain was hoping for. He was already ruled out for his scheduled start Wednesday, and it looks like he will miss a couple more turns in the rotation before officially making his 2015 debut.

Cain (forearm) doesn't have a UCL tear, at least as determined from the initial imaging, but will be out a couple of weeks, Hank Schulman from the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
A related tweet from Andrew Baggarly suggested it was more of a flexor issue. At any rate, Cain will definitely not make Wednesday's start, and where he goes from there has not yet been decided.
